Some thoughts on the Shadowrun series

Quoting: ziabiceIt's 2017, and developers should understand that they could at least provide subtitles or a way to let users create amateur translations. As an example: we have now a fantastic Italian translation for Baldur's Gate: Enchanced Edition that is included in the original game, at no cost for the developer, thanks to the efforts of the community!

And yes: I don't buy anymore games that at least don't offer subtitles in my native language.
Well, I am no native english speaker myself, but I started playing games as a little 8 year old kid with my good old C64, and guess what, there was no german translation for all the games. Did I finish them? Hell yeah, because I learned english that way, I never use the german versions of my games now too, because most of the times the localization is bad (some games really excel here, like all Blizzard games e.g.) and it is more fun and training for my english skills.
So maybe give it a try and improve your english here ;)

I have this game sitting in my library since it was on a huge discount in its Early Access phase. After looking at the video I should seriously start playing this game, as I really like what I am seeing :D

I am right in the middle of Dragonfall, completed Returns a year ago or so and loved it. Can't wait to finish up with HongKong. This reboot of the series is really cool and deserves a spot in the game library of every Linux gamer!
Nice writing Liam, took me a while to read it through ;)

Long War 2 now available for XCOM 2 for free, but not for Linux yet

Quoting: jith_feralHullo, we're working on a patch for XCOM 2 that will mean Long War 2 is supported on Linux and Mac, so stay tuned!
You know that we love you for these efforts? Well, now you know :D

Really looking forward to this mod, I won't start XCOM2 until this mod is available. It made my second playthrough of the first XCOM much more entertaining.

Major Stable Steam client update, Xbox controller config support, vastly improved Linux client

Game install folders can be moved to other Steam Library folders under Properties / Local Files.
Are you kidding? Valve finally adds one of the most requested features officially to the client? I have three Steam libs on three different disks on my Ubuntu, and I often re-arrange them according to my performance needs. This definitely comes in handy.
And the minimize to tray fix is also more then welcome!

Keep it up Valve!

Some thoughts on switching from Ubuntu to Antergos for Linux gaming
19 Jan 2017 at 6:40 pm UTC Likes: 1

Well, if we are here for the distro hype train, I want to shamelessly promote Solus. Since late last year it moved to a rolling release model, is heavily optimized for desktop use, blazing fast, integrates a native Steam runtime and much more. The repos are a bit thin, but steadily growing. Only thing that keeps me from using it for more than gaming is the fact that there is atm no way of mounting NFS like my NAS. But they are working on it.

Oh, and for work and duty I rely to my very stable Ubuntu 16.04, which runs all my dev tools and so on. I am also using Vagrant for web dev and the base image for Vagrant boxes is Ubuntu 16.04, so there is a good reason for using it. But to each his own :D

The 'Humble Bundle's Best of 2016' has some great Linux games for cheap
19 Jan 2017 at 12:18 pm UTC

Well, I already own all the Linux games from that bundle, but I can confirm that all of them are worth their money (can't say for else Heart.break() cause haven't played it yet), but Victor and Shadowrun Hongkong are super games for that little money.

Small site update, new directory page for people with Twitch and Youtube channels
17 Jan 2017 at 12:24 pm UTC

Hey Liam,
I just wanted to add my twitch channel to my profile but I can't cause the system keeps telling me "That is not a correct Youtube URL format, please use a correct URL like: https://www.youtube.com/gamingonlinux." [External Link];
But I don't have a youtube channel and didn't want to add one. Maybe you did something wrong in your sanity checks (like always checking the youtube field, not only if it is not empty ?) Would be cool to fix that ;)
