My exact reaction to this.
What we can all take from this ruling, is that Google wields more influence, and have better lobbyists, than Oracle does.

As with the time that Google (et al.) was "pro" Net Neutrality, we can praise ourselves lucky that their interests happened to align with those of the general public (insofar as the 'general' public cares about Java and Net Neutrality).

Companies ain't our friends, and they don't give two sh1ts about what benefits *us*.

The Supreme Court is not congress. There are no campaigns and no lobbying. The Supreme Court makes its decisions based on legal briefs [External Link] and oral argument [External Link]. In fact, in this case, there were many more organizations and individuals filing Amicus briefs on behalf of Oracle than of Google, including the United States government. It doesn't get much more powerful than that.

Ahh! This certainly gives me a lot of good memories from 90s.

A lot has changed since then. For one thing, we went from AGP being clearly superior to PCI to PCI (in its Express variant) being clearly superior to AGP!

The last time I had a ATI card(as they were called back then) it resulted in a "hardware manufacture error". Being boycotting them ever since. I will sooner cut off my leg and eat it before I ever buy a AMD card. I treat them as they don't exist and hate them with a passion. So I have been Nvidia only since that incident in 2009 and seeing people talking about problem with AMD cards under Linux for the first period after release has only confirmed my stance. What can I say, I have grudges...

His response definetly lays to rest any doubts I had, with one major caveat. It seems the guy has a peculiar sense of humor that has gotten him in problems. BUT he is NOT as a tweet quoted in this thread said: "a racist holocaust denier". That appears to be nothing but a bald faced lie.
