Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator is coming to Linux, developer needs testers

Note that according to french video gaming magazine Canard PC (n° 343) Aerofly FS 2 (at least in its state in mid 2016) is a poor flying simulator, far inferior to X-Plane 11 (edit : also available on Linux) which is only a bit more expensive (65 € against 60 €, at least here in France). :|

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire gets a release date

I love the magic system of Tyranny as well as the settings and story (so far)... but I'm not that fond of the combats (using one special capability / spell after one another waiting for the first ones to be available again)... Now I play in "easy" which leads to very quick combats and let me enjoy the story. :)

It's time to bug Feral Interactive about future port requests once again

Probably unlikely (Ubisoft), but I would love to have Rainbow Six Siege on Linux... because the game seems to be just incredible in the field of competitive tactical shooter! :)

Nioh also catch my interest and seems to be a good choice for a "Dark Souls" like experience (if it's only Dark Souls III it will be OK for me as well ^^)... :)

Quoting: EhvisFor favourite porter I voted for Knockout games because I found Aaron Melcher's name in the credits for Linux/Mac programming. I hadn't even heard that he was involved before then, so I decided to reward the work done completely out of the spotlight. Seems I was the only one.
In the credits of Tacoma I assume? Was he involved in any other ports last year?
Tacoma was the only one (game for Linux) in 2017 (source [External Link]. ;)

The Linux port of EVERSPACE is still being worked on

Quoting: GuestAwesome game, runs stupidly well on Linux. Side-note, some UE4 games, such as Everspace, Helium Rain, CAT Interstellar and Stellar Overload all have a green screen issue when being streamed via a Steam Link. So as much as I love Everspace, I've been playing games on the couch a lot more lately and really hope Epic can fix this issue (as this is an UE4 + Steam Link + Linux bug).

From what I understand, Rockfish is aware of this and has forwarded the issue to Epic.

Well, SOMA on Linux seems to have the same issues (black screenshots and green screen over SteamLink) and it's not an UE4 title (it's Frictional own in-house OpenGL engine with a port from Aaron Melcher)... but of course the two engines may hit the same "bug" (or not). :)

Quoting: CorbenYeehaaw!

When I talked to the CEO of Rockfishgames about the Linux version, he said he thinks they are doing the port for about 1000 people at max... let's prove him wrong!
Would be cool to know roughly how much Linux copies they've sold since the unofficial Linux release and before actual support (it runs very well on Ubuntu / Nvidia at least). :)

The 'Linux Steam Integration' project from Solus has an updated release with Snap package support

Quoting: ZlopezWhy not using Flatpak instead of snap?
Answer from Ikey Doherty (ufee1dead) [External Link]. :)

Quoting: lucifertdarkWhy not use it as it was intended by Valve & stop messing about with Snap & Flatpack?
The point isn't to bring Steam through snap or flatpak (Steam is already available as a flatpak package), but to bring Steam Linux Integration (SLI) more easily to its potential users outside of Solus (SLI snap works with a Solus base snap, not the Ubuntu core one). :)

Sci-fi horror 'SOMA' now has an easier mode to give a different experience

Quoting: EikeHow would I enable Safe Mode?
I didn't find an option...
You have to start a new game and then the next step let you choose the normal or safe mode (it's different from the Wuss Mod that you could activate and deactivate at any time during the playthrough assuming you save, quit and start again the game). :)

In the Valley of Gods announced from Firewatch developer Campo Santo, confirmed to Linux

Campo Santo has definitively a recognizable artistic direction producing beautiful sceneries. I hope they will deliver another good story (archaeological mystery with forgotten tombs that you can find once a year when the sun rise just in front the statue?), despite some pacing issues in my opinion Firewatch is worth the 4 or 5 hours narrative experience. :)

Quoting: razing32Doesn't it have a console ?
I got frustrated at the last monster in Soma , so i used a cheat mode to put myself in "god" state so it could not damage me.

In regards to the article:
This easy mode seems pointless to me if you have cheats. :P
On Steam Workshop you can find the Wuss Mod (if I remember correctly there is a standalone of the mod that works for non-Steam users) which disable monster's aggressive AI (for most part as you can always be killed on some chase sequences, and the Leviathan can hurt you even if he can't kill you). The official "Safe Mode" from Frictional seems to be an improvement over the unofficial Wuss Mod as this mod can sometimes break immersion with the behaviour of some monsters (they still are attracted by you and will follow you without attacking... which can be annoying with the visual artefacts from their proximity). Btw, I've played the game with the Wuss Mod as I'm not that fond of horror games but enjoy good SF story in first person view (which is SOMA strength), and will try the "Safe Mode" to enjoy the "atmosphere" one more time. :)
