Microsoft's new Recall AI will take screenshots of everything you do - freaky

Oh man, I can't wait for the first news articles to break about when Microsoft inevitably stuffs something up in an update and people's embarrassing private session get uploaded and shared far and wide. 🤣 You know that's going to happen eventually.

It's worth noting that not even Windows users are particularly enthused at the idea, as in this article [External Link] on PCGamer.

Quoting: LoftyAre we 'dehumanizing' an invading army by calling them a 'force' ?
Yes. We call them "enemy forces," not "enemy people." An important facet of war is finding ways to dehumanize the people you're fighting so you/your soldiers don't feel so bad about killing them.

Arctic Eggs is thoroughly weird physics-based dystopian cooking game

Someone said something about flamingos being banned and now they no longer exist?
Where do you think all those eggs are coming from? The chickens? Those are just for show.

It's not quite my cup of tea, but I do so love these kinds of weird indie games in general.

Ultimate Chicken Horse gets its biggest sale yet with a new content update

Quoting: MinuxThis game isn't serious. The chicken is the best without doubt. 🐔
Neigh! It's the snakeboarding skate – I mean, skateboarding snake.

I've played this quite a lot over the years with friends, and it's always a blast (sometimes literally). The new levels look pretty interesting, I'll have to see about setting up a session.

The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook is out now

I was going to complain there was no starfruit in the recipe for Lucky Lunch, only to check the wiki [External Link] and discover there isn't in the game either. (It's just Sea Cucumber, Tortilla, and Blue Jazz.) I think the in-game icon was throwing me off. :dizzy:

…I have a sudden hankering for starfruit now.

The Machine Age DLC for Stellaris out now along with free Andromeda update

Quoting: TriasWhile I'm not that hyped about new types of machine empires, I must say their new Cosmogenesis "become Crisis" path sounds cool. I mean, you literally embark your entire civilization on a gigantic ship and jump into a black hole in hopes to create a whole new and better universe for your people...

Feels like a proper "science victory" for me. :).
Yeah, unlike the original "become the Crisis" path from Nemesis where you wipe out all other life in the galaxy, this one isn't ethics-locked so you can do it as whatever you like. Which is pretty neat.

Golf With Your Friends adds a hilarious new Speed Golf mode
29 Apr 2024 at 6:27 pm UTC

This looks interesting. I've been playing Golf with Your Friends (off and on) with a friend for years, and we normally like to play by turning the ability to jump on, then trying to break every hole by jumping around the map with pretty much no regard for score, so an "as fast as possible" mode could be pretty fun too.

Quoting: GuestEverything from ice scream scoops to scissors are against us, It's nice to know that valve has our back.
I'm a little surprised it took this long honestly, TF2 has had left-handed view models for years.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThat's nice to see. Not that I ever play shooty games, but I'm left handed so it's a good feeling.
Have you mentioned being left handed before? I had a strange premonition as I clicked on the article that you would say that.

Fantasy city-builder Songs of Syx is approaching the end-game
25 Apr 2024 at 6:30 pm UTC

I tried the demo out a few years ago (props for having an unlimited-duration demo!) and wasn't quite interested enough at the time to pick it up, but found it worth following and watching. I should check it out again now that it's had a few years' development – it's definitely got some interesting features for a colony-building game.

Minecraft v1.20.5 the Armored Paws drop update is live now

Had to Google what the Viossa language is – apparently it's an artificial pidgin [External Link] constructed from dozens of source languages, where the only way to learn is full immersion on a Discord server. (And which also apparently isn't big on standardization of things like spelling – one of the guiding principles is "if you're understood, you're speaking correctly" – which means formalizing a single version in stone in Minecraft could be interesting.)

Armadillos are cool. Pangolins [External Link] are cooler (), but they're already the #1 mammal we're killing for their drops in real life, so we prooobably shouldn't be encouraging it in Minecraft.

Steam Deck Verified highlights for April 2024

Huh, Sokobond Express – I got the precursor Sokobond (another good Steam Deck game) years ago because I love chemistry, but I've never finished it since the puzzles get quite challenging with a number of chemistry-related mechanics (making and breaking bonds between atoms, atoms that can form a variable number of bonds depending on their free electrons, rotating molecules, noble gas atoms that don't bond, etc.).
