Quoting: PenglingFor digital releases yes (and the card specifically has to be formatted on the individual Switch console it will be used with), but generally no, it uses its own cartridge format. :smile:

I no longer have a Switch, but have a couple of games still hanging around because local stores won't accept imports due to them not carrying the nationally-accepted age-ratings, so here's a picture;

Oh, OK. Maybe I was mixing up the cartridge with full-size SD cards. Thanks.

Quoting: slaapliedjeI would love something like this for the Switch. I would much rather play the Switch games on the Deck...
Doesn't the Switch used microSD cards? (I don't have one.) Just need an emulator on the Deck that can detect when one's been plugged in if that's the case… :happy:

NVIDIA "unlaunching" the RTX 4080 12GB, apparently 4090 Ti cancelled due to melting

Dunno why they're backtracking so heavily here. They could've made a helluva marketing campaign over this little issue.

INTRODUCING THE GEFORCE 4090Ti! SO POWERFUL, IT CAN MELT YOUR FACE RIGHT OFF YOUR SKULL! ENDURE THE SCORCHING FLAMES OF THE HOUSE FIRE FOR MAXIMAL GAMING PERFORMANCE!

The wake-up sound not respecting the volume setting. If I've got the volume down to zero (like when I'm playing at work while my code is running :tongue:), I'd like the wake-up sound to be muted.

Quoting: audiopathikThe Eternal Cylinder […]
High quality voiceover, surreal, reminding of Alice in Wonderland, fun.
Funnily enough, I was playing the board game Wonderland Wars last night and one of my friends launched into a recitation of "Jabberwocky [External Link]", and the first stanza instantly made me think of The Eternal Cylinder and felt like it could be describing it:
Quoting: Lewis Carroll'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
Quoting: AnzaI haven't finished the demo yet, but the world building really is something special here. Everything is just right amount of weird and alien. I guess only thing can go wrong with full game if it can't bring something fresh now and then until the end of the game.
I watched a full playthrough when it released last year on the Epic store (and I'm still interested enough to buy it myself, for what it's worth), and as I recall it generally did a good job of introducing new stuff pretty much all the way through. Eventually you run out of new mutations, but you start unlocking the ability to manifest them at will, which is pretty handy. (Well, Trebhums don't have hands, but… :grin:)

RimWorld - Biotech expansion announced and a big free update

Well, this seems neat, bio-modding colonists and all that—

  • Actually useful shelves that store lots of stuff.
😳

10/10, must-buy expansion! :grin:

(For real though, the gene-editing sounds amazing, and I can't wait to see what modders do with all the new systems.)

Steam Next Fest - October 2022 Edition is live now

After saying how short the Potionomics demo was, I would be remiss not to mention that I've already spent 2.5 hours in the demo for The Eternal Cylinder and I still haven't reached the end (though I suspect I'm getting close). I've played entire games in less time than that! :shock:

Edit: finally finished the demo after 3.9 hours. Granted I'm not playing as fast as possible and it could certainly be done a bit quicker, but still!

No more Steam Deck reservation queue — buy it now, plus Docking Station available

Quoting: peta77Why did they add a PSU with the dock? Especially if it's the same that comes with the deck? Should be an option. I don't need another one just lying around with no use at all. Would also make it cheaper because a hundred euro is really a lot for that thing...
I'm guessing they're expecting that the Dock will sit around somewhere "permanently" with a dedicated power supply, while you might want to bring a second power supply with you if take the Deck on a trip somewhere. How useful any given person will find that depends on their tolerance of plugging and unplugging cables (I tend towards the lazy side) and where the Dock/power outlet are, I suppose. But I suspect there'd be an outcry about Valve price-gouging if it didn't come with one by default. ("They expect me to pay $75 for the Dock and an extra $14 for the charger‽")

Quoting: Purple Library GuyEveryone's talking about the dock, but I think it's pretty significant that we've reached the new stage with the deck itself, where people can just buy it instead of signing up for a waiting list. I do think that there are people who don't have that "Oooh, sign up and wait eagerly" enthusiasm who might buy now. It is also now possible to impulse-buy a Steam Deck. Or to buy one for somebody's birthday or anniversary with some confidence that it might arrive at the time you want it to.
Actually, that's a good point, can you finally buy one without needing a second Steam account to reserve it? Because, yeah, even if I were inclined to buy one as a gift before I'm not going to go out and make a second throwaway account for it. Now I can just buy one. (I probably won't. But I could.)
