Had no idea about the robbery thing, but now that I do, I want to thank these people for soldiering on. I love this game and I salute the devs for keeping it going even after such a tremendous setback.

Aspyr Media state no news about the 'feasibility' of Civilization VI on Linux until after the holidays

I made a petition to help show Aspyr that a port is wanted. They may already be planning on releasing a port, but publicly they said they are looking at the "feasibility" of a port, so that is not exactly a confirmation. I want to show them our support without being attacked by anti-Linux trolls, in order to help them make the right decision and port Civ VI to Linux. I think a petition would be more visible to them than the Steam forums, as the petition is connected to their contact email, and it may get their attention better.

Here's the thread I made for this topic in the Native Linux Gaming forum.
Petition: Aspyr, please port Civilization VI to Linux

And here's the direct link to the petition itself:
Sign this petition to show your support for a native Linux port of Civ VI [External Link]

Update: Holy crap, wish I knew what can of worms I was opening. I want no part of any controversy, I thought I was doing a good thing. Looks like I may have been mistaken. I wish to rectify this. What do you guys think, and do you think I should scrap the petition? I have no desire to upset or insult anyone, I had no idea about prior events like the "blizzard incident" and I wish I had before doing this. So, do you all think I should remove it? I mean I can just let it run it's course also, and let it go at that. What do you all think?

I made a petition since the moderator in the thread kept suggesting it. Please everyone sign it and show your support for a Linux port of Civ VI.

Also I have a couple threads in the Steam forums on this topic. The link below is the one in the Civilization VI steam forum.

@Ryblade
I read every word of your previous post, and I appreciate your well reasoned and eloquent argument. I have to say I am on the same page as you sir. Things are not as black and white as some like to believe. Again, great post, cheers!

What game are you truly thankful to have on Linux & SteamOS?

I'm gonna cheat as I have 3. For me I'd say Europa Universalis IV, Shadow Of Mordor, and Total War: Warhammer.

Edit: If I must choose only one, I'd say EU IV comes away with the win. :)

Wine Staging updated, allows you to play DOOM on Linux

That's exactly why I have a PS4 as well. I can get multi-platform games that aren't Linux native on it, completely bypassing having to use Windows. I recommend this setup for anyone who throws up in their mouth a little bit whenever they have to use Windows. Cheers. :)

@Tuubi

I misunderstood you the first time sir, and I apologize. I agree with you and also highly doubt that most devs on Steam are "anti-Linux" as well, it's mostly disinterest, or not feeling a port would be financially feasible for their company, or just lack of communication I assume.

I personally think that there are maybe some who are indeed "anti-Linux", or at the very least their moderators are, but as I said I believe them to be an extreme minority, and those sorts of companies and moderators need to be brought to the attention of Linux gamers (outside of Steam forums of course as not to violate Steam forum rules) so they can make informed purchasing decisions when it comes to purchasing games on Steam. That's why I think this article is ok, as it is bringing awareness to the community, even if you or I don't agree with the content of the article or post, it is bringing a certain situation to our attention and I appreciate that.

You are 100% correct Tuubi, sorry I misunderstood sir, yes the market is different now that Linux is a commercially viable gaming platform. And I hope it continues to strengthen it's place in the market as time goes on. Viva La Linux! :)
