Valve fires back in the lawsuit from Wolfire Games

In particular, from Rosen's blog post: "But when I asked Valve about this plan, they replied that they would remove Overgrowth from Steam if I allowed it to be sold at a lower price anywhere, even from my own website without Steam keys and without Steam’s DRM."

Quoting: GuestNot sure who's telling the truth, thus my use of the word "alleging", but here's some previously posted background: David Rosen of Wolfire Games explains why they're taking on Valve in a lawsuitQuoting: seamooseThat is incorrect. What Wolfire is alleging is that Valve tried to prohibit Wolfire from selling its games on other stores at a lower price than what they are priced on Steam even if Wolfire did not provide Steam keys for purchases on those other stores (e.g. DRM-free, Epic keys, etc.)That's confusing. I mean I could easily be mistaken, but why on earth would Valve even file the motion regarding:
If true, I do feel that Valve is abusing its dominant status in the PC games market. I can understand the requirement that if you distribute Steam keys in other stores then you should not price your games lower than on Steam, but that's not what Wolfire is saying.
"Plaintiffs’ allegations that Valve's Steam Key rules amount to an unlawful PMFN* fail for the straightforward reason that Valve, which created and owns Steam, has no duty under the antitrust laws to create a method (here, Steam Keys) for game developers to sell Steam-enabled games in stores that compete with Steam."if it wasn't involving 3rd party distribution of Steam keys? It seems extraneous and non sequitur if that's the case.

Wolfire Games: I want to sell my games on other game stores that still distribute the games via Steam keys, that are downloaded, installed and updated via Valve's Steam servers and which cost Valve resources to maintain, for cheaper than the prices we're selling the games on Steam itself.
Valve: Don't do that. You'll invalidate your agreement with us and we'll remove your games from the Steam store if you do.
Wolfire Games: SCREEEEEEEEEE!

Not that I'm discouraging anyone from actually buying the game (it regularly goes on sale on Steam for a dollar or two, and it's also part of the amazing Arkane Anniversary bundle which is where I got it) but there's also a free demo [External Link] on Steam that supposedly has the full game data files that are needed for Arx Liberatis.
Bethesda also gave this game for free through their launcher about a year back but I think that offer has expired. You only had to use the launcher to login and download the DRF-free game files.

Just finished Gato Roboto (really good short Metroidvania) and have started Dishonored 2, for real this time since I've already started it a couple of times before just to try it out. It's tougher than the first game, which I really liked, and I'm again going for a clean hands & ghost run on hard difficulty (F5, F9, F5, F9, ad nauseam...)
Also recently finished the main Desperados III campaign, another great game from Mimimi, and started playing the DLC and Baron challenges. It's too much of a good thing though, so I'm putting it aside for a while and will come back to finish it in a few months when I've got the itch again. On the other hand, it made me start replaying Shadow Tactics on hard to get (most of...) the achievements I missed on my first playthrough years ago.
Started Tales From The Borderlands as a prelude to playing the Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary DLC in Borderlands 2. I'm not sure why, but Telltale games can't seem to hold my attention very well. I've been a point & click adventure game fan for decades but there's just not enough interactivity in Telltale games.
Finally, still occasionally playing through Divinity: Original Sin 2 in coop with my daughter, which I estimate we will finish a couple of years before the heat death of the universe...

After 175+ hours I finally finished Assassin's Creed Odyssey last week. It was hard trying to select and start up a new game but luckily Desperados III went on sale for 50% off so I broke my 75%+ off rule (with a 5000+ game backlog I gotta set some limits...) and bought the Deluxe edition. I just finished the fourth level and mechanically it's at least as good as Shadow Tactics, though I think the latter had a better story and honestly I just prefer the Japanese setting. Still a great game either way, highly recommended!
