I put quite a lot of time into it at the beginning of the year, but Gunlocked captured my interest when it came out - marrying the horde mechanic to a vertical SHMUP works great for me. I should go back to Vampire Survivors, though, since I have no idea what a lot of the new mechanisms are.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80best name for a game award this Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion name alone means am going to check this outI beat it recently. It's very funny, and the story takes some surprising turns. It's short, only 3 hours or so, and worth it. The ending theme song is good, too.

(I realize this thread had died down - mods, please feel free to tell me if I should have left it alone.)
I was just trying out Broken Age last night, since I had never played that one. I was struck by the similarities between the graphics style, and especially the animation style, and what we see in the Return to Monkey Island trailer. Characters move almost like marionettes, or shadow puppets. It works -- fits -- for Broken Age, I think. And given that the Monkey Island games resemble silly stories that you can share with your kids, that seems suitable, too.
Still looking forward to Return.

Watching the trailer, I thought it was by the same developer as Snakeybus [External Link] - the physics seem very similar. I'll keep an eye on this.

I like the art style - it has an interesting "impossible papercraft stop-motion animation"-look to it. I think it fits the storytelling idea of the trailer, and it's distinctive.

They also have a revamped Breakout, which I will not be purchasing until after I've completed my current deadlines.

Quoting: hardpenguinFor more Recharged games from Atari as well as other fun arcade titles supporting Linux:Thank you for that link. I wasn't aware that this is the same developer who made Bit Blaster XL - they have a good retro arcade track record.

I am terrible at this game, and it is such a good game. I've never made it more than about 75 seconds, and I still keep it installed on my computers and phones.
Also, the soundtrack is by Chipzel, and her work is awesome.

Quoting: WMan22The worst part about this is that I sang praises towards SEGA for the Sega Megadrive Collection everywhere I could for how much of an example it is of how I wish older games could be sold in the modern era,I did the same - I'm sad to see they're going this route. It doesn't make any sense from a piracy-prevention standpoint, that cat is long out of the bag.

I'm late to this discussion, but I want to touch on something in the original article: the sleep function.
An instant sleep function was a make it-or-break it feature for me and my decision to get a Steam Deck. I've been using Nintendo portables for decades, back to the original Game Boy, and one of the best things Nintendo ever standardized on was instantaneous sleep and resume with the Nintendo DS. I am so relieved that Steam pulled it off with PC hardware - I didn't consider that a given, since PC hardware is such an astonishing stew of features and functionality. Being able to instantly sleep a game and pop right back in whenever is more convenient is not only a great feature for me, it's wonderful for my kids. It makes managing their gaming time so much simpler and less contentious, because they know their game is waiting for them, undisturbed, the next time they are able to play. It's like night-and-day when compared to most PC gaming, or other consoles.
My pre-order for the Steam Deck is in the Q2 window, and I'm looking forward to it.
