Exactly what I was expecting from Microsoft. Can't believe the EU validate deal of Blizzard Activision, when there were supposed conditions to allow the sale, and MS as usual never respect their conditions neither the EU Law. I tried many time to contact European commission by mail, to warm them about what will happen, and I never ever received a single mail of answer... Damn traitors...

This is hearbreaking as these were good dev studio for most of them...

Such a good news, and a bit more than a drop of water in the ocean this time. Maybe we can dream about getting our games back.

UK Government replies to petition about requiring publishers to keep games working

The very beginning of their answer shows they already are biased, and probably people from the industry have explained them how thing should work according to their sole interest dismissing any purchaser's claim. I.e: complicated to maintain game that are not maintained, and then throw money and publishing a "patch" that solely stop old OS/platform to access the game and not fixing anything.

Microsoft open sources MS-DOS 4.0
1 May 2024 at 10:35 pm UTC

Agreed, they should open source at least the over 20-yo Windows XP
Hehe XP still recent enough to the point that an open sourced version, would take like two weeks before it could run anymodern or old software & game faster than any modern windows.

Microsoft's buyout of Activision gets closer with the UK CMA consulting further

SO they surrender to the mafia. I had hope the UK would be strong enough to prevent such a mistake for the whole industry and gamers all around the globe. I'm pretty sure all the so called e-mail microsoft received from supporters to tell it would be so great for them if they could buy Blizzard were AI generated message because none of them looked real. The only concession they made was done on cloud services almost no one is concerned with...

All microsoft is trying to do is to get more control on the video game on pc to enforce their terrible malware/rootkit platform to always lessen players rigthts and product access. Shutting down the access to old games and servers one by one to then resell them once again. I'm really sad that people accept this behavior. But maybe they still don't understand what to expect from these people totally disconnected from video games and gamers.

I have sent e-mail to the European Comission and Parliement in order to tell them about the risks for European citizen if such a deal were to be conceded. I never ever received a response from any of them. I don't even think they have any ideas of what this implies.

Denuvo expand their Anti-Tamper and add special Unreal Engine Protection

I miss the good old times of physical copies, even the protection back then were funny. You sometimes had few hundrer pages manual with lot of illustrations, data...
I remember one of the Wing Commander game on which the security was basically a question related to the manual, for instance "what is the weight of the ralari" . You just had to go to the ralari page with all its specs and enter the answer. I whas a cool way of making some sort of protection. I still prefer drm free in general, but found it was kinda cool.
