Quoting: constDidn't know of this games, looks kind of interesting.1- ) Don't buy a game until it released on Linux , if you want to help Linux gaming scene.
It's great that they want to release for linux. Thanks for making me aware.
I'll go buy it now. Will use the link in the article, hoping they give you some of the revenue for promoting the game.

2020 : It is still coming...
One thing to note ; i don't understand why they are referring releasing a GOG version as a reward?
People are buying it from there , you are not giving it away this game on there. You're just putting your build to another store ; at a price.
Reward term is irritating.

Nvidia has a massive R&D budget for gpu's while AMD hasn't. They simply lagging one generation behind on watt-performance.

Quoting: ShmerlFor achieving that ; AMD needs better watt per performance which i don't think it will happen any time in five years.Quoting: LeopardX will be with us for a long time , i'm sure.It will be, but for a different reason. Because some games are tied to X. And as you said, XWayland will address those.
Reasons : Nvidia ( because of majority )
Not mature
Current games needs a mid-solution , Xwayland
And Nvidia's majority will diminish, at the rate of people upgrading their GPUs, which is in several years.

BATTLETECH will only be coming to Linux post-launch, along with other features

Probably they're assuming there is a Galaxy Client for Linux.
17 Jan 2018 at 11:12 am UTC
Quoting: Avehicle7887Yeah , i think they just made this statement generally , not specific to Linux.Quoting: LeopardWas about to say this myself. Without Galaxy on Linux how are GOG player supposed to play with Steam ones? (unless Harebrained is hosting their own servers). They've mentioned that players on both GOG and Steam versions will be able to play friends and join public games from their game client.Well , you can't on GOG version because there is no platform equality on GOG.
Theirs may have been a blanket statement without knowing Galaxy on Linux is missing.

GOG version will have multiplayer but via Galaxy Client.
Since there is no Galaxy Client for Linux (available for Windows and MacOS) , you won't be able to play multi. That isn't the case with Steam though. Steam is available on Windows , Linux and MacOS.

Quoting: GustyGhostI think you misunderstood what i was saying.Quoting: LeopardA general tale of warning against relying on Steam multiplayer integration. This vendor lock in trap has prevented some number of titles such as Disco Dodgeball from being brought to GOG due to complications with multiplayer compatibility. They've mentioned that players on both GOG and Steam versions will be able to play friends and join public games from their game client.Well , you can't on GOG version because there is no platform equality on GOG.

The Talos Principle updated with Vulkan improvements, OpenGL fixes and more, plus some benchmarks

Dx12 and Vulkan are both more difficult api's to dealt with ; when you compare them to Dx11.
But because of the high Windows 7 usage ; devs cannot move forward to Dx12 with ditching other api's. But on Vulkan , they can.
It is not limited to Win10 , despite Dx12 is.

Quoting: JahimselfAmazing tech support for this game. 3 and a half year after release they continue to update the game. I agree pete910. But for vulkan it is not that easy to optimize it. For the moment appart from Talos Principle and Ashes of Singularity, and doom 4 not so many devs have managed to push the api that far. Good decision though, the perfs are better and it will run better with lower end hardware due the good cpu core management. Also i want to add ; Wolfenstein 2 is a Vulkan exclusive title. It doesn't have OpenGL renderer unlike Doom 2016 has.

I couldn't play much because of performance on my [email protected] (Core i7 4th quad, GT750, 16Go, SSD).
I did not follow the progress on this game but did you see better performance when they upgraded Unreal Engine or did they work on optimizations ?
