Testing F1 2017 Linux port on AMD GPUs

This game won't run in Wine probably because Dx11 is still incomplete on Wine.

Quoting: ziabiceSo this game like, all the other Feral titles I own, looses 1/3 of the FPS in respect to Windows. I'm curious: does the game run under WINE? And if it runs, how it performs?I think that could be achieved with an OpenGL port as well. I'm curious about MacOS performance. Michael is gonna do that. We will see if Metal port is greater or not.

Real Vulkan is not that. Doom and Wolfenstein New Colossus are using Vulkan properly , not that game.

Quoting: AvelanHi Liam,Windows version uses DirectX 11 , Linux is Vulkan.
could you tell us which graphics-api was used in your windows benchmark? Was it also Vulkan? Or DirectX 11/12? Thank you for the review.

Performance is very bad , why even a Windows user wants to convert to Linux after seeing these kind of results again and again?
I'm okay with %10 performance loss but it is nearly %40 percent and it is not even a graphically intense game.

Quoting: BrisseYou're trying to justify it but don't do that.Quoting: LeopardThat performance is a joke. And yet the game works perfectly fine. If you have a system like liamdawe's and hook it up to a 60hz monitor you wouldn't even notice the difference compared to Windows when maxing out the settings.
If a Vulkan port came out like that , sorry but all Vulkan hassle from Feral sounds like a selling tool.
What will be the difference when they do that on OpenGL? I think it wouldn't be worse.

Quoting: chancho_zombieRpcs3 is a PS3 emulator which uses OpenGL and Vulkan.Quoting: LeopardI don't understand that , why would anyone wants to run Windows version of Rpcs3 in Wine when native Linux version is also available?because on Radeon with Gallium Nine, DirectX 9 is native.

Oh yeah. Though , as Liam noted it is crazy that there are many people writing Vulkan wrong.
But that Stardock company is a member of Khronos Group afaik , so at least i was expecting them to write it right but still no luck.

Quoting: liamdaweFocus to the smiley Liam , i've said nothing wrong at allQuoting: LeopardThis again? Yes I have a Windows partition, for many reasons. There's no need to point it out repeatedly in comments. I'm not an elitist and 99.99% of my time is spent on Linux.Quoting: ShmerlEven Linux solely didn't work out for him :DGNOME Shell with a customized layout is now Ubuntu's official desktop environment. I've been on it since release and it's very stable, but I did install the normal GNOME Shell session to customize it as I like.Antergos with KDE didn't work out for you?
I also have a PS4, a Nintendo Switch, an Android phone and so on ;)
