Quoting: xaviNot supported is not meaning it won't run on Intel Hd. It is simply saying : When you try to run it on Intel Hd and cannot achieve that ; don't expect any help or patch from us.Quoting: sn0rlaxI picked up Salt & Sanctuary and Hollow Knight, among others. Really getting into metroidvania, about 15 years late.I love metroidvanias, when I was a kid I played a lot Vampire Killer on the MSX, that was the precursor of Castlevania. I was thinking on which of both games play. Hollow Knight or Salt & Sanctuary, the second seemed different for the RPG mechanics...
S&S is the best game I've played on Linux. It might be the best game I've played, period. And I didn't care for Dark Souls.
But finally I bought Darkest dungeon and I'm enjoying it a lot. I think the clue is to be conservative, play without high risks and the all is more relaxed, easy to win, collect stuff, and arrive at town almost without stress (I'm in my first 10 hours). This way I find it more relaxing.
By the way, I have an Intel T430u laptop with Intel HD 4000 graphics and I'm tired on lots of games saying (like Darkest dungeon): "Intel Integrated not supported".... but it works perfect. Also it says 1080p minimum, and plays perfect at 1366x768. Right now I'm playing it with a monitor at bigger resolution, but I started with the laptop screen with no problem at all. Why they don't say: "Not tested with Intel integrated cards"... instead of "Not supported".
'HOOK' is an extremely minimalistic but addictive puzzler that I wholeheartedly recommend

Quoting: Blauer_HungerAMD open source driver is not an absolute solution because it still lacks of FreeSync and HDMI audio. These are very important but they're missing on Mesa.Quoting: seven.....and this is why i always use nvidia.....I prefer AMD because of it's open-source driver (at the moment I'm using amdgpu with an R9 270X, based on a Pitcairn refresh, without any problems), which can be used with PRIME without any problems. This isn't possible with nvidia cards, neither with nouveau, which lacks reclocking support, nor with the proprietary driver, which can only render everything on the dGPU or nothing. The Bumblebee project (which tried to make PRIME work when Nvidia didn't support hybrid graphics on Linux at all) seems abandoned since 2013.
And what about the Code 43 errors with gpu-passthrough of nvidia cards? AMD doesn't do such crap. The cards that have reset issues have workarounds without an impact on performance. In contrast, to run Nvidia Geforce cards with passthrough, you need to disable some hypervisor features to make them run, and you can't even use the emulated QXL video card, so it's impossible to use them on headless systems.

Try that with an Rx 580 and see the difference.

They just expected a Playstation , Xbox rival at launch. Although Steam Machines at first gen served their purpose well enough. They at least brought attention to Linux.
I expect that future Steam Machines will be on Ryzen Apu's mostly.

Quoting: hardpenguinIt's really weird, seeing popular media outlets reporting Steam Machines ending up an enormous fiasco but also reading all those news of new Mesa developers continously being hired by Valve. And then Valve focusing on VR. Not sure what to think about it.Because popular media didn't know anything about Linux until 2013.
If nothing else, perhaps at some point all modern Radeon products will finally be a viable choice on Linux ;)

Anyway , i looked up to his profile and it seems he is dual booting so my mistake.
But i must say that : I'm not agreeing with that kind of happiness at all. If Wine gaming really becomes a thing , we would never see in house ports or official supports.
Developers will be like : " They're doing fine with Wine , why should i bother with official Linux support?"
And sadly ; Wine usage is becoming a piracy tool. Check out Wine forums. There are so much people which asking running ETS2 on Wine , Total War Attila in Wine , CiV VI in Wine. When you say; that game is available on Linux they're not responding at all.
Wine = Sacred place for pirated Windows games on Linux , without virus or malware threat.
Also it seems John Carmack was true about his Linux gaming thoughts.

Quoting: liamdaweIf the one is in Linux gaming more than one year , should've learned by now to not believing promises or kickstarters when it comes to Linux.Quoting: LeopardWhat about no Tux no bucks? Not everyone agrees to that hard-rule. It's not a one size fits all rule.
There's also the people who purchased it on the previous promises of a Linux port and got stung by it, quite a lot of people I imagine.
