I did give Into The Breach a very quick test, but sadly it doesn't look like the fullscreen issue is solved for me. Setting it into fullscreen made it into a bigger window, turned it black and seemed to make it freeze. I had to force-quit, then when loading it up again it was just in a big window with bits cut-off. Looks like they still need to work on that.
Were you really on Beta7 (validate that the DXVK version is indeed 0.96)? It took me some manual steps until Proton was actually updated to Beta7.
How do you manage to get proton to download? i tried to disable and enable again steamplay and deleting the proton folder and now don't have any proton version :(
By installing Proton 3.16 Beta via Library -> Tools. Somehow Proton was marked as installed there, but I guess that is a different story.

Anyway, the DXVK hud has to show 0.96 with the Proton Beta, otherwise it's not Beta 7.

Edit: Ah, I see you already found that option :)

This would be a cool base for the next proton version.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Gathering Storm is out with Linux support as expected

Just a note: On Fedora I had to preload freetype to let the game, or better the launcher, start. Together with gamemode my launch command looks like:

LD_PRELOAD=$LD_PRELOAD:/usr/\$LIB/libgamemodeauto.so.0:/usr/\$LIB/libfreetype.so.6 %command%

May be this helps someone...

Looks like Easy Anti-Cheat strikes again with Steam Play, Paladins is no longer playable on Linux

Quoting: KimyrielleOn-topic: While I can understand the need to combat cheaters, I never felt comfortable installing intrusive Anti-cheat software. I wish game devs came up with intelligent methods to detect cheating -behaviour- instead of the tools used to make it possible. Ideally, games should be designed from the ground up to make cheating impossible, so that EAC and Co wouldn't be needed. Security as an afterthought (and that's what Anti-Cheat software is) has never worked well anywhere.
I'm pretty sure that game devs would prefer this too, but I guess it is not that easy without locking down your whole system like on a dedicated gaming console.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm also not a fan of these solutions and refrain from using them. (Fortunately for me I'm more of a single player type thus this wont hit me. Though I understand the need for this in multiplayer games, people _will_ cheat and destroy the experience for honest players.

Some information on why Wine is not going to be using DXVK

I get that a posting like this on the wine mailing list is a welcome feast for sites like phoronix or here, though I very much doubt that highlighting this posting in the news and the obviously following public speculations and assumptions will do any good.
Best of my wishes to both projects and their maintainers, it's still astonishing how the Linux gaming world has changed last year...

Edit: I realize that my posting could be read differently than I meant it to be. Clarified that my point was about the news articles itself.
