Glad to see it come back, it's actually a really fun game. A throwback to simpler times, but once you start playing, time flies and when you look up again, it's 4 AM and you wonder how the last 12h passed so fast.

I've been playing it and enjoying it a lot too. Is it still rough on the edges in places? Yes. Is it the most fun I've had in a while? Yes! Does it feel like a complete game? No. Is it still better than most AAA release in its current state? Hell yes!
The tenth Norse world sure is busy as Valheim hits 5 million sold

Yeah, I have a level 3 axe, a level 2 pick axe and a level 3 helmet and that's it, I'm done with bronze. I wish I didn't upgrade them except for the axe, the increased durability comes in handy. Oh, I made a few nails too. Troll hide armor should get me through to the iron age and is much much easier acquire and craft than bronze.

Played it quite a bit now, coming from Vintage Story. My overall impression is positive.... But... In single player it has some really rough edges. Battles are a chore if you are not well rested, you will always be out of stamina and be at a great disadvantage because monsters don't have limited stamina like you do, and there's no one else to help you. When well rested and fed though, combat is really, really fun.
The main problem I see right now is the amount of grinding required to craft stuff past the stone age. I'm used to things taking a long time, as I said earlier, coming from Vintage Story, but mining in Valheim is just not fun at all. It's a huge hassle, and you will spend hours doing it. It takes way too much material to upgrade your items and armors. I'm pretty sure that they will change that before the release, as the feedback from everyone seems to be the same.
If you are not in a hurry to try the game, and don't plan to do multiplayer, I would recommend waiting until the game is closer to release and the game balance is improved.

Axiom Verge is a truly excellent game, but it has zero re-playability value. But it seems like this is fixed now, I'm really looking forward to this!

Quoting: Justin_MierschHey Linux Community,Nice reading that, keep up the great work, your game looks really promising. But I'm still willing to bet a pint that randomly jamming weapons won't make the final cut in the game! (Or that another mechanic will make it irrelevant, say, that non-jamming ammo will be so easy to get that it will be a non-issue)
I'm one of the devs to clarify a few things! :)
In the video, we said that the Weapon Jam is random "for now" because we need a bit more time to add more features in this direction. But I'm here to tell you how it will work in the future.
We also teased the Player Hub a bit, which is very complex and I cannot talk about it right now but the Hub alone could be a game itself :) Inside the Hub, you can craft better ammo types, etc. so it depends on the ammo you are using how many jams you will get. The Player will have unlimited default ammo (This ammo is more prone to jam), the craftable ammo is limited by your "building materials" you can find that on the maps/missions. (You can build a lot of cool stuff with "building materials")
I hope you like that! :)
Best,
Justin (cottbus99)

Wow, weapons will randomly jam. What a nice feature, I always wanted to get killed in a game because my weapon jammed, sounds like so much fun! (Not.)
More seriously, they seems to want to make an ultra realistic game, which is fine. Their choice of weapons so far looks great, I like weapons from the 40s-60s. But I'm willing to bet that randomly jamming weapon won't make it into the final game.
