The massive 7 Days to Die update Alpha 17 is live now for everyone

Yep, it's a real performance hog now. I've pushed a few settings down a notch or two and I'm still lucky to hit 50fps, despite my monster graphics card. Hopefully now that it's stable, they'll focus on that performance issue - A16 was very fast by comparison.

But what a game. The melee is finally satisfying. When you power attack with an Iron Sledge, the zombies will literally fly away from you, ragdolling and tumbling through the air - it's great.

And the skill system is great too. With the latest re-balance the forge is much more achievable. I was pretty disappointed with the bike though - it's not much faster than walking unless you use stamina to speed it up, and when you do, you're lucky to last 30 seconds before it's gone and you're back to walking pace. Hopefully that gets a tweak or two in future.

Great game. Loving it all over again.

I'm looking forward to giving this a go. Didn't think this would realistically come after the MS buyout.

Came here to say "Limbo on a bike!", and you beat me to it! Reminds me of the very original Trials game. I think I still have a trials.jar kicking around for that. No idea if it'll still run though.

I'll be picking this up on launch - looks great.

Quoting: TcheyI've been following this game for i think about two years. This "mistake" was just that, and according to my knowledge, they clearly don't deserve "community punishment".
Is this where he cancelled a third-party key when the game got a bad review? If so, totally agree - a one-off moment of madness which he apologised for and made good. Indeed, even the affected reviewer was satisfied by the response, if I remember correctly. It shouldn't be our place to project fake rage over what is already a resolved situation.

In terms of survival games, Subnautica is excellent through Steam Play and of course 7D2D is native (and the current A17 experimental builds are just excellent).

A game like this either has to be vaguely story-driven (like Subnautica) or multiplayer (like 7D2D). I'm not sure I'll ever get this to be honest. Still holding out for a native build of Astroneer personally.

An early Christmas present! Love these games - finest TD games, ever, imo. The polish and balance is just sublime. This is definitely quite a challenging game though, harder than the previous two. Grinding a map two or three times to level up your hero does help though and really "grind" is too strong a word. Great game.

Quoting: g000hRealising that you can't put every notable game into this end of year article, surprised that Slay The Spire didn't make the notables list.
Not fully released yet. Kept it to full titles.
Was about to say the same. Slay The Spire would have been (easily) top of my "Best Five Games to Release in 2018"... except they're releasing in February next year (I think). Such an amazing game.

Only Overwatch on DXVK has the power to pull me away from this right now. I've completed it with all three characters and I restarted as Ironclad a few days ago. Yesterday, I killed the primary with all three keys in my possession and got a stab at the Heart itself in the recently added fourth Act.

I... didn't last long.

Ah well. Next time. Definitely.
