I gave up on it because a) a bad commander means losing, no matter how well you play and b) I didn't understand the mechanics of a lot of what was going on, so couldn't make good decisions about how to play well. The learning curve just seems to keep going through the roof! Might try it again later.

Bloody hell! I got the "Courage" result for dying in that godforsaken room. I thought eventually that I could die in phases, then use my dead arms to jump across. Yeah, that didn't work...

Quoting: michaReally?? REALLY??? I never tried that???????Quoting: scaine(I'm looking at a door with a bunch of low-level lasers covering it, but the switch is down a corridor of water - touch the water, you die. Totally stumped, and for a quid, I'm not inclined to spend too long fretting about it.)shoot your energy thingy at the toxic water..

I'm about 20 minutes in and stuck in the third or fourth room. No idea what to do. You can't rebind keys and there's no introduction or tutorial, so I don't even know if I'm missing some kind of core mechanic that has to be uncovered by experimentation?
(I'm looking at a door with a bunch of low-level lasers covering it, but the switch is down a corridor of water - touch the water, you die. Totally stumped, and for a quid, I'm not inclined to spend too long fretting about it.)
However, I have to say, it's just not fun. The total lack of any kind of theme, story, or direction is pretty off-putting. It's pretty, but completely experimental.
Like I say, it's a quid, so whatever, but it's not something I'd actually recommend! I'd rather spend fifteen times as much and buy Antichamber instead - better puzzles, better graphics, better atmosphere and a vague, surreal storyline to urge you along.

An indie like Subnautica or Astroneer would be very cool. I'm also still hopeful we'll see Oxygen Not Included, but since that's Klei, it's likely coming anyway.
Otherwise, Hellblade Senua just released (UE4), Event[0] appears to be struggling to get anything out the door for Linux, despite promising it about a year ago, there's no sign of Rain World, again promised during Kickstarter and all quiet.
On the AAA front, it would be great to see Neir:Automata or Prey, or Overwatch, or, or, or... yeah, not likely! But then I'm pretty sure Icculus was the godsend behind Sanctum 2, so you never know!
How about Killing Floor 2? Tripwire promised that one three years ago, but then went silent.
Finally, INSIDE (spiritual sequel to Limbo) would be cool, or UnderRail?
So many games! So little money.
[Edit: This inspired me to give Ryan the same Patron pledge I give this site. It still pisses me off that there's Patreon's of people making Youtube videos of Overwatch raking in like $5k a month while these Patron's are only just sitting around the grand mark, but that's life in the niche lane, I suppose. Great to see Ryan's Patreon coming up to a grand already!]

Yup, instabuy. No idea what the game is about, but it looks like a weird mix of Destiny and Borderlands. I'm buying it immediately if they sort out a Linux release. Pretty exciting!

The team behind this did a pretty cool AMA [External Link] a few hours back, worth checking out. I think I'll be picking this up, but since I just dished out on DoW III, I'll give my poor wallet a few weeks to recover.
Looks like GOG Galaxy won't come to Linux any time soon, as it's "not a priority"

Well, I was going to say "their loss", because I'd rather buy on GoG than Steam, if Galaxy was available. However... it's not that simple.
Here's my Steam purchase list since the start of July (yeah, it's been a pretty crazy 6 weeks - this isn't really normal, but it helps paint the picture actually):
I was going to say "Hah! GoG missed out on £82.35 in the last 6 weeks alone, from just one Linux gamer, because they don't have Galaxy". And it's kind of true.
But I can't. Because it turns out that Tacoma and Full Throttle are the only games on that list that are actually available from GoG!
I kind of assumed that there would be most/nearly all. Sure, Ballistic Overkill probably uses Steam net code? Maybe? And probably Dawn of War III... although that title is more likely a simple DRM issue. But the rest are all prime candidates, I'd have thought.
Anyway, in summary, I don't buy anything from GoG because they don't have Galaxy. And until that changes, that's pretty much my position.

F1 2017 could be on the way to Linux, as Feral Interactive want to see demand for it

I wish I could spend money on a wheel and really get into my racing games, but the last time such a title really grabbed me was Forza 2, about 8 years ago when I still had a console! I didn't buy Dirt Rally and honestly, I'd struggle to buy this. I did just spend £30 on Dawn of War III on the Humble store though, went to redeem my code in Steam and discovered a shiny 50% off voucher... enjoy my wasted tenner, Feral! :)

Ever.
Because, who knows? It might happen. Some day. And on that day, Feral will announce it. Until then, vague, indirect deflection is all you'll get.
16 Aug 2017 at 7:55 pm UTC
Quoting: m2mg2Just to clarify, has Feral actually said Bioshock remastered isn't coming to Linux?Well, okay, just to clarify then: you will never see Feral saying that Bioshock Remaster isn't coming to Linux.
I still haven't seen a statement to that effect. Just the generic, we have nothing to report on Linux at this time.
Ever.

When was the last Feral release? I'm itching for a new, big announcement! I wish I was into Total Warhammer...
16 Aug 2017 at 5:55 pm UTC
Quoting: EhvisY'see, that's weird: you say you're familiar with the process, but then ask if they've said more than that. But as Ehvis notes, the process is they will never say more than that. The closest Feral have ever come to saying "no" is "we haven't announced anything". Kind of frustrating really, but you can see why they do it that way. I guess anything can change at the drop of a hat in the Publishing/Developing world of games.Quoting: m2mg2I understand that. That wasn't what I was referring to. I am familiar with the process. I asked whether they had said more than that, like "we will not be releasing a Linux version".They did not. Just the aforementioned standard reply.
