Rise of the Tomb Raider tested on AMD RX 580
19 Apr 2018 at 9:13 pm UTC

So I want to wait until I can test MESA 18 for my final verdict but my Vega FE scores ~45Fps with everything maxed out (FXAA/SMAA) at 3440x1440. The GPU Utilization seems very low during some parts.

I can't wait until wattman and Freesync are available for use under Linux. That way I could force my GPU clocks/fan speeds as I know it can perform better than this.

Quoting: GuestI cannot launch the game on Manjaro with Mesa 18.0 (Radeon R9 280X). It says:

Vulkan device has no suitable present queue families.

What am I doing wrong?
Are you using amdgpu? I'm not sure how manjaro sets up older GCN cards so that's why I ask. Your card is "unsupported" so the only way to play is to force your card to use the amdgpu DRM by booting with:

amdgpu.si_support=1 amdgpu.cik_support=1 radeon.si_support=0 radeon.cik_support=0

If you are using amgdpu, make sure your have the mesa-vulkan drivers installed.

Quoting: dpanterSteam sale atm, 67% off including season pass... instabuy on the cheap! ~16,5€ :wub:
Of course...after I paid the full $60 on Feral's store just to give the game away...but I'm glad to have supported them regardless. :)

Quoting: noxPerformance on my Vega 56 is great too. Just have to remember to save often. Had one full system freeze at one point (that sucked).
Tumbleweed or Leap? Mesa version?

I'll try my Vega FE tonight on Mesa 17.X and report back. I'll have to wait until Solus updates to Mesa 18 to test that.

I hope Solus lands MESA 18 soon. Otherwise I'll have to use Ubuntu/PPAs or Fedora/Copr just to play this game on Vega. I do plan to test tomorrow regardless, and yes, my offer to give a copy away tomorrow still stands. Watch the comment section when the game launch article is up. ^_^

Quoting: liamdaweIf memory serves, you need VLC installed for the cutscenes to work.
VLC is installed on my system but perhaps I could be missing a codec.

I just noticed I'm having the same issue. I'll take a look at it when I have time after my RHCE exam. I can confirm however that the update improved my fps by 5-15.
