They claim they are also back to making games again. Couuuuld be that they're going to try the hardware game again, but take a page out of the PS/MS/NIN playbook and do some kind of exclusives. If that happens though, I predict it'll only work if it's Half Life 3 - which they'll never make. Ergo, I predict another bomb.
Valve might not be the benevolent saints some make them out to be, but in the realm of playing dirty they are quite far from the likes of the above mentioned other companies. This is a good thing, but also the reason they will not succeed against those companies with this venture.
The general public don't care if they're getting screwed over. People *might* be persuaded to care for half a minute, for example when Facebook leaks all their personal data, but they'll quickly go back to not caring.
I think most people want shackles. They want authority telling them what to buy and what products to use. Proprietary lock-ins and such are viewed as normal. "Exclusive" is seen as a feature of a product, not a failure.

I am reminded so much of "Cargo! The Quest for Gravity" ... I wish that could get a belated Linux port. I think it's a Source game, so how hard could it be? :)

Quoting: LeopardIsn't it normal? It's not a game publisher (kinda, I guess) or game maker. It was originally a site for web games, mostly Flash. It's where devs like Edmund McMillen got their start. I think this new move is mainly because Flash is dead.

Protip for devs: There's ALWAYS demand for Linux builds. It's not an indicator of how well it will sell.
If you'd be ok with 1% Linux sales and ecstatic with 5%, then port it. That's the likely range you are looking at.

Regarding retro graphics. Yes, it was originally a technical limitation, but so was painting. Yes, they do it for nostalgic purposes usually, but why is that bad? Doesn't mean we have to throw out the aesthetics as we invent new ones? We did not stop drawing on canvas when art software became popular.
The value in keeping these older art styles is plenty. Working within the limitations causes you to think about how to present things, fundementally changing the way you communicate ideas. They are forms of art and we should not let it die.

Farm Together is actually quite a relaxing and sweet experience, now in Early Access

Sadly the current build does not seem to like my Manjaro setup. I'll hang on to it though.
EDIT: Seems it works if I launch the 32 bit executable. Will report bug.
