GOG adds a bunch of NEO GEO classics, some have Linux support

Quoting: muntdefemsYou probably already know that, but the Windows installers are created with Inno Setup so they can all be extracted with innoextract. It'd be a little redundant to offer the assets separately in a zipfile.Surely if all I want is the raw assets though then it is the rest of the installer that becomes redundant?

What I would love to see is for games on GOG.com with source ports to include just the relevant game data files as unsupported bonus content like this, so that you do not need to download Windows installers and binaries in order to play them on Linux or macOS (or indeed even on Windows).
Maybe they would consider it now.

Quoting: Avehicle7887"Please note: macOS and Linux versions are provided as unsupported bonus content."I am honestly surprised that GOG.com allowed that, knowing how anal they used to be about providing support for every one of their products.

Agreed. In my experience opening up moderation to the community like that does not end well, and I like being able to follow the conversation from the very beginning rather than out of order.

Might be a good stepping stone into the genre for me if it ever enters my price range.

In fact, the opinions expressed by Phoronix readers or those on its forums also have no bearing on what you are now arguing here either. You are going after Phoronix itself, which by and large is Micheal Larabel, not his readers.

Quoting: snizzoI could reply to you to all these points (like making you notice that the pure number of articles is of absolutely no meaning towards what you're trying to demonstrate (hint: objectivity and not doing click-baiting covering topics that will generate free hate, more hints? You were suggesting that AMD and MESA were getting partial treatment due to the amount of coverage they received on Phoronix. I showed that Nvidia was getting a comparable amount of coverage, demonstrating that your initial assertion was flawed. Which, I will remind you, was the basis of my entire argument. The content of the articles is actually in many ways immaterial when it comes to that argument, although I do think you would be hard pressed to demonstrate that Micheal Larabel himself has shown any kind of consistent bias against Nvidia.
Quoting: snizzolook at difference between omgubuntu and phoronix reader baseNow here is an example of a statement that has "absolutely no meaning towards what [we] are discussing", and is merely being used as a deflection intended to shift the focus away from a point you now feel the need to dissociate yourself with. The readership of two different websites has no bearing on anything when it comes to your claims of biased coverage on Phoronix.
In fact, the opinions expressed by Phoronix readers or those on its forums also have no bearing on what you are now arguing here either. You are going after Phoronix itself, which by and large is Micheal Larabel, not his readers.
Quoting: snizzoYou're using rethoric and mixing pseudo science with real (infused?) truth, while, of course I was talking about an opinion. The fact that you replied so hard on this, and that you want me to admit my supposed guilt, simply demostrate, at my eyes, that my personal opinion was right and reinforced. Therefore, I won't reply again, my ego does not depend on people reading comments on forums. You were making claims that are not backed up by the available evidence. While those claims certainly count as your opinion they do not in any way correlate to established fact. Call that pseudo-science if you like, get yourself further entrenched in your own head space if you like, but I will still repeat my suggestion that you try a little introspection here.

Some thoughts on Ziggurat

Quoting: M@yeulCYes, I wouldn't call this game "closed room", this is more likely due to its Rogue like nature. The point I was making is that the combat is more Painkiller than it is Quake, wherein you enter a combat stage, the door slams shut behind you, and you must contend with whatever is thrown at you using only the tools you have at your disposal at the time, other than what is given to you from item drops.
Quoting: ziabiceThe only thing that keeps me away from Ziggurat is his roguelike nature: I really loved Doom for his level design. The levels are fantastic, and even after years I can still remember nearly all of them and enjoy the game.Agreed, and more crafted levels are one of the things I did miss when I played Ziggurat, but as I said in the article the game's personality was still enough for me to be able to carry on without it. I do still long for a solid FPS campaign in an Indie title though.

You just need to do a quick search to see that I am right:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_topic&q=NVIDIA [External Link]
AMD and Mesa are going through a huge amount of change right now and have been doing so for the past ten years. I think that is worthy of the amount of news coverage it has been getting. Nvidia is not getting forgotten. You just seem to be irked by the fact that your preferred option does not completely dominate the conversation.
EDIT: Case in point, here are some statistics:
794 AMD news articles published on Phoronix.
612 NVIDIA news articles published on Phoronix.
Now that is a 9000/1 ratio if ever I saw one...
EDIT 2: And just so I can not be accused of selective quoting, in reference to your original post:

Quoting: snizzoYou are annoyed by Michael Larabel's coverage of AMD and Mesa because you prefer Nvidia, and you are complaining about zealotry. I am not misreading your words here. Larabel for all his sins (and he has a few) does give fairly broad coverage of all kinds of topics in the Linux community, including Nvidia.Quoting: HamishOh gosh. My message is so difficult to understand? I'm not complaining that phoronix covers some topics (that I don't hate). I'd prefer it to be a news site that gives the same space to everything and treat it objectively, like a journalist do and unlike a blogger do. I'm more and more thrilled to see how many people just don't get what's written in a small comment.Quoting: snizzoYes please. Just don't be like phoronix and turn this website into a kde, mesa, manjaro, amd etc. zealots center. It's so annoying just reading over 9000 news about the latest commit on amd mesa and all of the hate towards nvidia in general (given that's still the best vendor hardware/software for gaming on linux). So basically you are complaining that Phoronix covers topics that you hate? And then you turn around and complain about other people being haters?
I think you need to do a little introspection here.

Quoting: snizzoSo yes, I'd like you to post news about linux in general, just don't be too obsessive writing at topics that generate traffic through hate and religion like phoronix do.You mention KDE, Mesa, Manjaro, and AMD in the same breath as "topics that generate traffic through hate and religion" and yet you still maintain that you do not hate the subject matter. Again, some introspection here would be nice. You do seem to take considerable umbridge with them being discussed.
