Looks interesting, it could be the Indie Deus Ex.

But damn, I really do need to buy Eldritch!

Valve Are Funding A Big Change To Mesa, Should Improve Linux Graphical Performance
9 Jun 2014 at 5:04 pm UTC

Another AMD FUD thread which is off topic and was mostly based on ignorance of the fact that AMD actually does provide support for their FOSS driver (and have been doing so since acquiring ATI in 2007) and even have plans to greater utilize its potential.

As for this move by Valve, I of course do applaud it and feel no shame in doing so. I criticize them heavily on the DRM front and anything else I object to them doing, but I am perfectly content to praise them when they do something praiseworthy. That being said, this is not charity as building up the Linux graphics infrastructure is something Valve needs to make SteamOS successful, which is a perfectly valid reason for contributing but is not different than Red Hat or anyone other vendor funding FOSS graphic development for their own purposes.

And as someone who has been using my current dedicated Radeon HD 4670 with the FOSS drivers since 2011 with great success, I must say my luck must be pretty damn good then.

Looks Like LIMBO Is Now Being Ported Natively To Linux Thanks To Icculus

Quoting: scaineYoung punk! From your profile, I think I'm older than you! Haha!
Oh, I am sure you are, which is why I love saying it. ^_^

It is not the acknowledgement or even the complaints about the problems that bother me, but the patent lack of respect that was expressed by some of the posters here. Because really, everyone involved should know better, and at least recognize some of his contributions a bit more.

These young punk kids complaining about icculus is actually rather insulting given the fact that HE MADE LINUX GAMING! Without him there would be no Valve, no Humble, no Indies, nothing. Zip. Zero. Period! Learn some history before slagging the man off, and actually go beyond your own little myopic existences and see the world around you.

And has already been said, it is really up to the developers themselves to keep engaging his services. For instance, he has been keeping his ports of Postal and Postal 2 updated for over a decade since RWS actually cares about their customers, including Linux and Mac users, and keeps bringing him in to port over updates. The over burdened comment may in fact be true however, especially since updating the Postal 2 port should be another thing on his list at the moment.

As for LIMBO, if this is indeed true and a native version appears in my Humble Library I might just take some time out of my life to play it.

Major Trine Update Should Be Released In The Next Few Months

Quoting: aLI liked more trine 2 than trine... Anyway, whats this news about? i thought i had already played both on linux... did i play one of them on windows?
Eh, they both have their advantages:

And yes, both of the Trine games and all of Frozenbyte's catalogue are on Linux already. This is just a new port made mostly so Frozenbyte can release it on Steam.

Valve's VOGL Debugger Makes It Even Easier To Debug OpenGL Games

Quoting: DMJCI'll keep running Intel and NVIDIA hardware which I know works on Linux. Now that NVIDIA is contributing to Nouveau (I suspect because their engineers had a look and realised that Nouveau is actually working and not just a joke project anymore) They probably see it as a way of developing an open source driver without infringing on any of their licensed code/trade secrets that they can't open.
This is in fact something that AMD has actually been doing since acquiring ATI in 2007, putting a huge effort into the actual plumbing work of the Linux graphics stack that Nouveau relies upon, alongside other FOSS supporting vendors and developers such as Intel, Red Hat, and Novell. And has already been pointed out, Nvidia has only been supporting Nouveau in terms of their Tegra support, and do not seem to have any plans to expand upon this to any of their other chip-sets.

Because of this it is AMD cards that have the most performant free software drivers available for higher end hardware. Which incidentally is off topic and has nothing to do with VOGL, but when there is that much FUD being slung around someone does need to respond to it just so such scaths do not actually discredit all the hard work that has been done to make the free graphics ecosystem actually competitive.

Paranautical Activity FPS Big New Release, Comes With Issues

I am able to get past the window by pressing tab and enter numerous times, but even then the in-game menus are still too large for the screen, even when forced to a lower resolution or when the game is forced to be windowed.

GOL On Advert Blocking, I Don't Hate You, But Please Don't Do It

For me I just nicely side-step this by being on the Editorial team which gives me Premium privileges (which is still an option for everyone, so start writing/contributing!) but I still do not have an Ad blocker on largely due to being too lazy to get one. :|

Paranautical Activity FPS Big New Release, Comes With Issues
3 Jun 2014 at 3:13 pm UTC

I needed to change the executable permissions of the main game binary before the game would launch on my Arch Linux setup, and now I am also stuck on the "Beta Configuration" window as it is way too large to fit on my screen and does not show any interface items. I have a 17' inch LCD monitor at 1280x1024 resolution.
