Metro Exodus is now live on Steam and Deep Silver say it's coming to Linux

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoWe have a different concept of middle class... Your middle class is my middle-high class..
Get more than 50k per month (if you have to rent) and you're in the middle... of course this numbers will vary depending on the city where you live, if you have kids, etc.

If I compare the price of the game with any other social activity, I really don't see how it can be expensive. If the point is "there are cheaper ways", then I can also say "you can go a pirate the game and make it free too".

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoAnyway, I have a machine with a legit Windows 10 licence. That's how I run XGP.
So you can't use it on Linux... which means that Steam version has that little but very important feature for someone that only has Linux at home.

Quoting: GuestWhat i meant by "poor OpenGL driver performance" was more like "poor performance of MESA gpu subsystem vs performance of D3D on Windows" MESA might be a decent OpenGL solution in 2020, but it still isn't nearly as well optimized as D3D is on Windows....
I'm not an expert on graphics API, but I know for sure that many ports normally try to wrap Dx into OGL which I'm confident that ends up creating a overhead and a performance hit. With this said, I'm not that sure if that advantage over optimization is on driver side (IMO, everything points towards to a game engine optimization for DX).

Either way, some day game devs will discover this: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=DXVK-Experimental-D3D11-Linux [External Link] and embrace it :P

899 AR$, which is about 14 USD at the official exchange rate (~18 USD with taxes).

Quoting: GuestThe most likely culprit for the performance difference is OpenGL poor performance vs Vulkan and Direct3D versions. Proton uses Vulkan so it can be far better optimized on MESA than the OpenGL ports, which face both poor OpenGL port performance + poor OpenGL driver performance....
I agree about port performance issue but regarding OpenGL driver performance I completely disagree. OGL Mesa implementation is quite good, it even kick the ass of OGL proprietary Windows implementations. In fact, I think that radeonsi showed better performance than the Nvidia driver lately (check latest phoronix benchs).

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoWith Game Pass you can play the game, and if You like it, you can buy it with an extra discount...
Last year I purchased the Gold edition of the game on sale in the XGP store for just 287 AR$.
Deepsilver just fuc*ed argentinian steam users.

And no. I don't know where are you from, but No way $1160,23 is cheap... .
I'm from Argentina chamigo!

But I keep my question, how do you download the game on Linux with the game pass??

Regarding the price, I spent more than that just for Valentines day dinner so it's definitely something that any middle class citizen is able to pay if he wants. Not to mention that is, at least for myself, very good price for a native version (in fact, I'll probably pay the full price if the native version gets released).

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoSadly, the Steam regional price for Argentina is 4 times more expensive than the Xbox Game Pass version.
But with game pass you don't own the game, you have to pay monthly in order to get access to it, doesn't it? More over, how you will be able to download this game with game pass when you need Microsoft Store in order to play it? I don't understand your comparison...

Either way, right now I see it on Steam for $899,40 ($1160,23 with taxes). For a AAA game with native support is quite cheap IMO.

Valve making steps to address toxic behaviour on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Quoting: fagnerlnA little off topic, I was talking with someone about Proton and how intrusive anti cheats blocks it, and I was thinking about why there's no anti cheat based on AI.

On CSGO I do some "overwatchs" and there's a lot of obvious cheaters, with wallhacks, aim, speed hacks, etc, really easy to catch, so an IA can do the job. Looks like it's really easy to bypass VAC, but I think that it's a lot harder to bypass a AI.

Maybe an IA can detect a toxic player too
Valve is already using one. The problem is that AI requires training and will always have false positive detection's (but to be fair, humans do have them as well), so I doubt that it will eventually get to be the unique security measure to be used.

Borderlands 3, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint out this week on Google Stadia

Quoting: poke86Wasn't Borderlands 3 supposed to be a 6 month Epic exclusive?!
At this point we can all agree that Epic exclusives are more like a Steam veto agreement.
