Quoting: XpanderHe probably has all the statistics and knows the insides, So i think he is right. I find it stupid that people just start calling out with names for no reason though :( but i guess its the internet.

But thats probably bad news for every other big game like Apex Legends and so on also sadly.
But he's probably not technically savvy enough to give an answer that is outside the monetary side of the issue.

If the only issue with Linux kernel is the fact that you can modify drivers, then you have the same issue with Windows as there is no limitation or whatsoever if I want to install a not signed driver. And iirc, Deck was going to use a non modifiable boot image, so it may even have an advantage against Windows PCs regarding anti cheat security.

@Liam, you may want to take a look to the heatsink or thermal paste of your CPU, you're hitting over 100C from time to time.

They've been continuing to rewrite various parts of the C code into much newer C++20/23.
Maybe kind of a nitpick, but to me this kind of implies that C++ would be some kind of "updated" Version of C. The next C standard is likely C23, so will it then be "more modern" than C++20?

These are simply two different languages that evolve separately although the workgroups do coordinate development together.
I want to believe that the line is missing the "++". Not to mention that C++23 is still a draft, I'm not even sure what compiler they are using in order to get support (I guess they're simply removing any code that will become incompatible with the newer standard).

Ok, the full statement gives some light:
Very early versions of Cemu were written mostly in the C language. This was out of habit more than any actual reason. Since then, we are continuously rewriting code to make use of new C++20/23 features. Another related task has been switching the project from a Visual Studio solution to cmake, a necessary step for porting to other OSes. We are also using the opportunity to re-think and improve the general source file and folder structure or just to clean up code from the early days.
So, it's simply a refactor... but the idea of using C++23 is probably not a good one.

Quoting: kneekooTake another look. There's an "Operating Systems" filter where you can check Linux and only those entries will be shown.
AFAICR, this was available before. The selection is not persistent. Besides, Windows-titles will still be shown on the main page, along with promo-newsletters. There is no way to set the "show me Linux stuff exclusively" setting in your profile.
Quoting: kneekooBy the way, Steam doesn't have an OS-focused newsletter either. If you add something in your wishlist, they will notify you when those get discounted.
Again, AFAICR some time ago people complained they can not see Windows titles in their (Linux-native) Steam-clients unless they checked the "Show Me Unsupported Titles" checkbox (and apparently this setting was hidden well enough to mandate several Reddit HOW_TO-s). This was before Proton™ though, so I do not know how it is now.
Almost sure that there was an option in the library list filter. But I may be wrong, I can't even recall how Steam was before Proton at this point (thanks to you German MD!)

Steam gets their part at least.

NVIDIA releases a 12GB GeForce RTX 3080

Quoting: melkemindUpping the memory is one thing, but this appears to effectively be a different GPU. Why not just change the name? It's only going to cause confusion for people thinking they're buying one thing and ending up with another, especially in aftermarket sales.
That's the idea, this release is just a shady way to officially increase the 3080 MSRP. The original 3080 will cease production for now on.

Use Wine for gaming on Linux? Try out Bottles
14 Dec 2021 at 4:44 pm UTC

Quoting: elmapuli mean, i remember when i was trying to instal palib on linux, i dont remember if it had an linux version that i couldnt install or what, but installing on windows was already hard enough (you had to setup an enviroment variable, first time that i saw this term on an windows context), now imagine if i tried to install the windows version on linux back then...
google it "how to setup an windows variable on windows on linux"
or better "how to setup an windows enviroment variable on wine"

its an issue to specific and google might return 0 results, or tons of results for windows but only a few for linux if you dig deep enough, or maybe no one has ever tried.
now multiply that for every game you try to pirate.

regardless of what you think about piracy, this is an major issue that we have to solve if we want linux to become popular, most gamers dont purchase everything, many test drive the pirated version to know if its worth purchasing.
First result for "Wine environment variables"

https://wiki.winehq.org/Wine_User%27s_Guide#Setting_Windows.2FDOS_environment_variables [External Link]

Either way, as most cracks requires replacing an exe or dll file, as long as the user can figure out where is located the wine prefix the steps for Windows should be the same for Linux.

And worth to mention: using a crack used to be the only way to play some legally owned games on Linux in the past.

Quoting: CatKillerKDE Neon is the opposite of a stable KDE. Its purpose is to push out new versions of KDE immediately.
Which is still far more stable that whatever Kubuntu delivers. Also, is not like you get nightly builds of KDE Neon, you always the latest stable version released (unless you go for the developers edition).
