Never played these - but - I'd love to see Stunt Car on Steam... Sure I've probably got it on floppy somewhere and could probably run it in DOS-BOX...

I will admit I had a nerdgasm at the portable pilet mini consoles from soulscircuit

I don't need it - but I'm a sucker... Looks to the right side of my desk - there's my PocketCHIP... Looks to the left left side of my desk there's my Beepy! I don't even use them!

I've still to finish Doom (2016) - never mind Doom Eternal...

Spent much more time recently playing GZdoom...

I still miss Doom "I" deathmatch - where I worked : we had an IPX (Novell) network - we'd deathmatch in the IT training room and kill the WHOLE LAN with IPX broadcasts!

With a Nintendo Switch 2 on the way, I hope Valve make a Steam Deck 2

I own this and I got it running eventually on Ubuntu 22.04 (and even Fedora 36/37 I think) mid/late last year - but I just CANNOT get either the SNAP or the AppImage to work now I'm running Pop!_OS 22.04 (on a Ryzen 7 Desktop machine with Radeon RX6600, and a Ryzen 5 ThinkPad with Vega8 GPU)...

Frustrating!

I had to use the "--no-sandbox" argument to get it to run (Alderon Game Launcher) on Ubuntu 22.04 :
./AlderonGamesLauncher-1.1.69.AppImage --no-sandbox

But that doesn't work on Pop!_OS...

P.S.
Just tried the Alderon Games Launcher install via Lutris - and it works... No idea what magic it does, but it works...

I used it as my daily driver on a gaming laptop (Asus ROG slimline thingie) 5-6 years ago... it was great... I chipped in some money too...

Recently I wanted to try it on my Pi4 (8 GB model) and they want you do jump through a whole bunch of $$$ hoops to get the arm64 version - NO WAY!

Reckon I'll stick with Ubuntu Gnome... Also - wasn't Danielle the "offsider" of the original founder and got him fired / removed?

The best Linux distribution for gaming in 2023

25+ year Linux user (Slackware 3) - UNIX even longer... I also use MacOS... I don't use Windows (unless forced to in my job - mostly to RDP to Windows server jumphosts, to then fire up a terminal window to a Linux or UNIX server [yeah - still do some Solaris support])...

I use Ubuntu on my Desktop Gaming system (AMD Radeon GPU, Ryzen 7), 22.04. I also have a Ryzen 5 Thinkpad with Vega 8 running Ubuntu 22.10. I did have Fedora on there, but when RPMFusion didn't / couldn't install a decent version of MPV (my preferred video player on MacOS and Linux) - I wiped it and installed Ubuntu 22.10. Will probably try out SteamOS 3.x when Valve make it available to non-SteamDeck users (I'm in Australia, no SteamDeck here, and I'm not going to jump through hoops just to get one - but - I do want one).

My main use for Linux is the power of the shell, the same reason I use MacOS. It's my job. Whatever gets me up and running with Git and ZSH and a shell and terminal emulator, and where steam is only "sudo apt install steam" - is my choice - Ubuntu does this for me with the minimum of fuss...

I've done a bit of distrohopping, tried various alternative DE's - but ALWAYS end up back at Ubuntu with Gnome... It's the closest UX in my experience to MacOS (I always move the window control widgets to the left too  ).

Even MORE invites for Steam Deck purchases will start going out now

I've been subscribing to all sorts of mods / assetts lately so I can make private vehicle traffic UN-friendly cities without much luck... This is very timely... Was starting to get sick of it - but this might re-awaken my interest (and force me to do midnight to dawn marathons : "I'll just plonk another metro station there, and THEN I WILL go to bed...")
