CodeWeavers still looking to hire more Graphics Developers

I don’t have much experience with dealing with OpenGL or Vulkan, but I’m pretty good with C, and can learn a shit ton on a short schedule. Think I should apply?

Frictional Games (SOMA, Amnesia) begin teasing something new

Super stoked. Frictional have their own engine, develop games that manage to challenge the conventions of good gameplay! I strongly recommend. Hopefully they have a GOG release, if not, ... no matter.

Quoting: 95ych0I've never played any of Half Life. I hear such acclaim about it. Can I get into the series by playing Black Mesa without playing the original?
I disagree with Liam. The original has an atmosphere that’s not the same in the remake. Partially because the sound design is the toughest thing to get right if you’ve never done it professionally. A lot of the bugs simply add to the experience, and as much as I like BMS, the original is better.
Wow, people get really really anal about Half-Life, who knew.

I was simply trying to be clear that this is the first party of the story.[/quote]No offence intended.
Just pointing out that BMS is no substitute to Half Life classic, though BMS is in many ways better (it’s more stable, Xen looks much better, and much more story-rich), but... not the game I grew up with.

Quoting: appetrosyanHonestly, any game that’s not in my steam/gog library. I’d buy it out of principle, comment that the reason why I bought the game was that it had native support. That being said, a game with prohibitive multiplayer software aka anti cheat would be a great option, mainly because these are the only ones you can’t play via proton.
I thought that about multiplayer too, but remember that Feral does NOT support crossplay with Windows on their Total War ports. So would it really be worth it if we got e.g. PUBG but could only play with other linux gamers?
It would be better. Especially if it doesn’t go the RUST way. No crossplay is a problem, but I’m sure it”s mostly held back by the low adoption of Linux. I would imagine that Chinese internet Cafes would adopt Linux if there were sufficiently popular “Killer app” kinds of games.

I'm in the same boat and wonder about the same.
Play both. Preferably back to back. The level design is similar enough for you to recognise, but there will be enough differences to make it worth your time.

DXVK 1.5 released with D9VK merged in for D3D9 support, plus a statement on DXVK's future

It’s FOSS. Create a pull request. I’m sure that it’d make contributing to the project easier.

Quoting: MohandevirCyberpunk 2077.

What I hope to see is Feral getting new contracts because of Stadia that will let them put these builds on desktop Linux.
With the amount of horsepower, they”re likely to get mostly the multiplayer side of things, because anti-cheat is the ONLY type of game that reliably doesn’t work in Proton or VM.

Epic Games have awarded the FOSS game manager Lutris with an Epic MegaGrant

Don’t mean to sound rude, but that’s peanuts, and doesn’t compare to harm that these “good people” have done to Linux gaming by cutting games that worked via steam play and cutting them out. Also, venturing it into Lutris is telling. I think if they had any intention of developing their storefront t beyond the very basics, they would have simply released a Linux beta.

To give you an analogy of how disappointing this news is, think of a headline “a gamer donated £25 to the Linux foundation”. Don’t give them coverage.
