The developer of 'Rise to Ruins' is doing so well, they're paying back supporters

I find this rather weird, tbh. Wouldn't there have been a better way to use the money? Like, hire a composer to get more music as the game's soundtrack is very repetitive right now.

The people who give money on Patreon are doing so in order to enable the dev to develop and improve the game, not to earn money back.
I somewhat understand shutting down the campaign if the money isn't needed any more, but I just think there would have been better uses of the money than giving someone 20$...

This also sets a rather awkward precedent, as now some might expect similar behavior from other developers. But Patreon != Fig.

Details on how Slay the Spire sold on Linux plus some thoughts

I remember having serious windowing issues with this game on linux and wasn't the only one.
However, that wouldn't really a share THIS low. Hmm.

Bit of a curiosity given other devs reporting higher numbers.

I have more reports to do..
See... i dont get why people mark them as platinum when there are so many workaraound involved... thats not platinum rating.
Fully agreed.
If you have to do anything else than just launch the game, it is not Platinum. Same if the performance is MUCH worse than on Windows.
If you can make the game run perfectly with some steps, as many of these reports say, that's Gold, Not Platinum.

What we have here is someone unconsciously (I don't think that is on purpose) skewing statistics, and that's not helping anyone in the long run.
The reports and hints are appreciated, but almost none of these are reports that should be Platinum.

I feel that ProtonDB should have functionality to report a report as having the wrong rating.

So many people using Arch?
I would've expected Mint second.

Of course, these stats say nothing about the people that made the report, right?
It would, in theory, be possible that each report is by another person, or that one person is responsible for half the Ubuntu reports.
I wonder how what such a "cleaned up" stat (as in, only one report counts per person) would look like.

Sunless Skies is officially out and it's truly an awesome experience

Quoting: JuliusAnyone got Sunless Seas actually running? On my Solus Linux system it always crashes on startup.
For me (on Ubuntu 18.04) it just starts as a tiny 0-pixel window. I can hear the music, but there's no way to make the window bigger.
Starting parameters don't do anything, either.

Edit:
Found out that's a known bug, though, with a workaround:

The developer of AuroraRL, a 2D space exploration game has thrown in the towel

Quoting: pbWell that's a shame. I bought it quite some time ago as it looked interesting, but as usual, I waited for it to be fully released before I play it. Which seems to be never now.
That's the main reason I almost never buy Early Access games. Better just to wishlist and follow its development than to spend money on something that will never be finished.
Too many games that just end up in early access limbo, because some clever people think they can finance their further development with "early adapters".

Lesson: Gather funds BEFORE development, if you can in any way. If you can't, maybe think about if you really should be developing a game.

I get what you are saying. It makes for a simpler transition.
But then it begs the question, What is the point in using 2 OS'?
If we ignore the endless amount of reasons related to working, and just focus on games:
To play games that won't run (or very badly) on Linux (w/wo Wine).

I'm a gamer first, Linux user second. If a game I'd very much like to play really requires Windows, then Windows it shall be.
Makes sense.
But still, wouldn't it be better if you just stayed on Windows?
Then I'd have to deal with Windows' inefficiencies and annoyances way more than necessary.
There's a reason a prefer Linux, just like everyone else here - and it sure ain't the lower selection of games working on it.

Quoting: GuestIf you just want to Play just stay with Windows. I for myself use Linux Mostly. For everything else i mostly use my Consoles. Only for maybe 2 Games i some times (rarely) switch to Windows.

But yeah if you are a "gamer" (i hate that word btw) then just stay at Windows.
I also use Linux mostly. Except when I need Windows to run certain games (or for work).

I feel like both of you did not understand the concept of first & second. Yes, being able to play games is most important to me (and if the Linux situation concerning games was as bad as it was 4-5 years ago, I wouldn't be here).
But the second most important thing (using the OS I'm more comfortable with) is still important.
It's not an "either or" situation.

As it is, Lutris is almost as useless to me as that Windows-only equivalent (forgot the name).
While I get your reasoning (and like cross platform apps as well), this has to be the first criticism I've seen in the Linux world aimed at an app for being a Linux exclusive. Wow!
Nobody is going to try out or switch to Linux because of a piece of software, especially not if there are already better alternatives on Windows (afaik, Playnite has more integrations). It doesn't help in making Linux more ... palatable.

Plus, catering to a rather small audience from the get-go seems like a very weird decision.
I get why devs would make Windows exclusives, I really do not get why devs would make Linux exclusives.
Because nobody need Lutris on Windows.

Does it ring a bell?

Your reasoning/ bashing here is just absurd.
There is no bashing going on here, I merely explained my reasoning for not being interested in Lutris and my confusion as to why anyone would develop such a software and making it Linux only when there are ample tools available to develop it cross-platform instead.
It is their decision, me finding it weird hardly qualifies as bashing.
But it is very telling that you think there is any bashing. Touchy subject?

Oh, I'm also going to remind you that "nobody needs X on Linux" next time you wish some software was cross-platform and not Windows only...
