Steam Controller pads are circles, 40 mm in diameter. Source: I just measured mine.
That would make a surface area of 1256 mm² per circular pad.
Going with 32.5 mm as the given measurement for the Deck pads, that would be a surface area of 1056 mm² per square pad.
Looks like they simply cut the circle down to a square. Rough cut:

Avoid PPA bullcrap and the Nvidia website driver. These can and likely will break your system.
Dumping Nvidia for good is another alternative I personally recommend, but the GPU market being what it is definitely doesn't make that easy.
