Their stance has changed slightly over the years, but Flathub is still not enabled *by default* as of Fedora 41: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/workstation-working-group/third-party-repos/ [External Link]
Between Fedora 35 and 37, only a filtered subset of Flathub was also available this way unless you downloaded the Flathub repository file and added it yourself.

Rather the issue is "Why do we need Fedora Flatpak?".One of the original reasons for creating Fedora Flatpaks was legal and FOSS compliance reasons. Red Hat was afraid to give users full access to Flathub, as it ships lots of proprietary applications but also lots of applications that support patent-encumbered formats like H.264. Red Hat is very careful about not packaging those in the main Fedora distribution, so giving access to Flathub by default would have been seen as a way to endorse those packages (even if Fedora themselves did not package it).

Fixed player voice commands being abruptly ended when the player enters shallow waterIt's funny to see a bug that originates from Quake (later transported to Quake 2) carry on this far long into TF2's lifetime. In Quake, it was often used to your advantage to hide jump sounds since you exited the water shortly after jumping from shallow water.

Not to mention old games are easy to run on low-end PCs, even at very high framerates, while CS2 is still challenging to run in many cases (e.g. if you don't have a dedicated GPU).

I thought Counter Strike: Source was dead already. Why are people still playing that when CS2 exists? And why are the servers still up anyway?CS:GO and CS2 community servers were never as big as CS 1.6/CS:S, so if you're looking for custom maps and modes, you'll probably have a better time on those games.

Quoting: rhavennThis won't work if running apps from a GUI, as they don't try to initialize your shell. You need to modify `/etc/environment` instead (which must be done as root/sudo).Quoting: TevurGreat!Assuming that's just your standard environment variable. Yeah, just set it in your shell's init config files.
Is there a way to setDXVK_FRAME_RATEfor everything everywhere all at once or have do I have to set the argument for every single game?
For bash, personally, I would put it in: ~/.bash_aliases:
#DXVK FRAME RATE
export DXVK_FRAME_RATE='WHATEVERITSUPPOSEDTOBE'
You will need to log out and log back in for your whole environment to inherit that.

Deadlock from Valve gets 6 new experimental heroes and new stylized rendering of heroes
25 Oct 2024 at 4:35 pm UTC
It would arguably resolve most of the player visibility issues without needing a toggle to disable agent skins.

Additionally, Valve also completely changed how they actually render the heroes. Using a brighter and more stylized display to improve visibility. As their example shows it's quite an improvement:Now if that could make it to CS2 as well... :)

NVIDIA 565.57.01 Beta has Wayland and HDR improvements, plus DXVK and VKD3D optimizations

What's the state of Linux HDR support on NVIDIA in late 2024? I didn't know there was any kind of support in the driver until I read these patch notes.
Obviously, this depends on having reliable Wayland support (which isn't my experience with the NVIDIA driver until now due to frequent freezes), but I figure I'd ask nonetheless.

Rogue Legacy 1 source code released

These custom licenses can also hinder the game's modding potential due to their terms, e.g. for source ports that are intended to replace the original executable.
These days, when I see a game's source code announcement, I basically assume it's under a proprietary license now :(
Descent 3 is the latest exception I can think of right now.

Quoting: scaineI find it a bit upsetting that some of the opening comments to this news are negative. It's like someone offering you a free apple pie and turning your nose up and saying you prefer pears. Can we not just celebrate the awesome work CellarDoor and Ethan Lee put into this with a bit of gratitude? That it might help future developers learn, not to mention the modding potential?I think this is because it feels like a downgrade compared to most game source code releases in the 2000s (where the GPL was typically used, or sometimes permissive licenses). It's much less common to see games have their source code released nowadays, let alone under OSI-approved open source licenses.
