I don't really care about which DE they end up keeping as main as I've been running i3 for quite some time and have recently switched to dwm. As long as no DE is a hard dependency, I'm fine with it.
What I'd like to see them focus on is compatibility and stability as the last couple of times I've tried Manjaro, it has either failed to install or locked up on boot. I'm sure it's related to my MSI motherboard not playing nice, so not directly their fault, but plain arch and Antergos (R.I.P.) never failed on me.

I'll see if I can figure out parsing the mission time.
Edit note: What I have cobbled together so far uses the x52pro-linux package by nirenjan, so that's probably the same tool (`x52cli mfd`, right?); I've just added pagination, line scroll, button mappings and reading the Elite data.

Quoting: slaapliedjeThat's named button 30 on my joystick and should already be mappable in Elite. What sort of issue are you having with it?Quoting: CybolicI've started working on a companion program for the X52 MFD since the only one I've found so far is Windows-only.Awesome! So there is one thing you have to do in Windows for the X52, enable the clutch button. That way you can use it for thruster boost.
I'm pretty new in Elite though, so I'm having trouble figuring out what information to actually display and what might be useful.
If anyone wants to discuss this, let me know :)
Quoting: slaapliedjeBut I'm not sure about the MFD. Would be interesting if you could integrate it into having a clock for mission time or something. I play in VR though so actually looking at the MFD is kind of hard for me.I'm not sure either, but it seems a waste not to use :) Currently, I have it showing my commander name, ship name and dock/system on page 1 and ship name, ship type and fuel amount / capacity on page 2, but I'm sure there are more useful things that could be shown.
Edit: the packaged libx52 does have a mfd tool, I was playing with it at one point in time, but it's not a graphical one by any means.

Thanks for the write up, it made me take the plunge and get myself the X52 and finally install Elite! I was part of the original Kickstarter round but the long wait and disappointment over the hints of Linux support that never amounted to anything made me push the game off my radar again, so it's been really great to finally get into it!

Ah, so the actual future then! :(
I'm not much into historical settings (unless we count steampunk), so this might actually draw me in now.

Quoting: no_information_hereSame here! I keep having to look down to realign my thumb. If only I could find some skin stickers with a bit more definition, like you said.Quoting: NanobangA suggestion, if you haven't tried it yet. For platformers, set the Lpad as a DPad (4 or 8 way) that fires on touch instead of click. For my money this is a thousand times more responsive than the other console pads I've used. :)Thanks for the idea. I have tried this and my problem is hitting the wrong part of the pad about 30% of the time. If the shape or texture was more defined like a D-pad, maybe I could get used to it.

Klei Entertainment hit the restart button on Griftlands, confirmed to come to Linux but Epic Store first

That was so confusing. I read it as "We will be supporting PC (Win,Mac,Lin) during Alpha and Early Access. We will be adding OSX and Linux support in the future." and was lost for a second as to what the difference in supporting Linux during alpha and later was and how that explained the Epic store.
Anyway, guess we'll see in a year+ if this is worth paying attention to.

In all seriousness, the game looks neat - a bit like a cheerier counterpart to the aesthetics of Duskers.

Quoting: Guest"PC, Mac, Linux" they (devs/publisher) don't get it, right? :DI propose everyone starts writing "PC (Windows), PC (MacOS), PC (Linux)" instead! :P
