If it's a typo, it's also in the original release notes.

Humble Best of Stealth Bundle has HITMAN 1 & 2, Aragami and more

While I haven't been really playing anything in the past months, I check out the bundles most of the time anyway. What annoys me is that Humble recently, I think, moved the platform icons so you have to click on each title to see if it supports Linux. Makes it more likely for me to skip even checking the bundles out.

The next AMD RDNA 2 card revealed with the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT

Not for me, I'm more looking for something in the range < 150 W. Well, I don't have mich time to play anyway, and when I do, I prefer 2D for some reason, so don't mind me.

Godot Engine team grows with another developer now working on rendering
3 Mar 2021 at 7:24 am UTC

I feel like Godot's development has really taken off and I'm excited to see where it all leads up to. I've made some small 2D games for jams, so I probably will not see many benefits for my own game development - but anyways I can't wait to see how other people put all the new features to use.

Unity Technologies committed to supporting the Linux Editor for the Unity game engine
4 Nov 2020 at 6:36 pm UTC Likes: 2

I've used the Unity editor some years ago when I finally wanted to get into game development properly. Installation was a bit of a hassle on my Arch machine since building the AUR package took so much /tmp space I had to reconfigure the tools to use another path for temporary files. Also the installation took forever, as did upgrading to newer releases.

As a programmer I didn't get comfortable with the approach Unity is offering for development as it is (or was at the time, don't know how much did change) built around assets. I didn't mind coding in C# (which I do to get paid), but Mono Develop and Unity didn't go well together in my case. Lot's of crashes (of Mono Develop), and once I updated Mono Develop independently there was some error whenever I launched it from Unity.

All in all I didn't get into it process wise and technically. Lucky for me I did discover Godot some time after and was delighted over the very-easy-to-get-into-when-you-have-a-programming-background approach, no more prefabs, hierarchical scenes, excellent Linux support, small memory footprint and an accessible yet powerful built-in scripting language. I definitely didn't look back for a second.

Quoting: geoffroypirI am going for short and modular development cycles
That sounds like a smart choice to me. It should help with completing and polishing a feature before tending to the next. So I'm all in for you proving my concerns wrong.

Arch Conf 2020 confirmed for October, has a talk on the SteamOS-like GamerOS

Thanks! Since I switched from (X)ubuntu to arch I didn't look back, might be interesting to listen to some of the talks. Just made my Thunderbird remind my forgetful self.

Wow, huge scale indeed. Honestly, this sounds like it will never be done. In the trailer he says he plans to hire talents to add more content - I wished he said to help him get stuff done more quickly and possibly in better quality. Has he published anything yet? I've been there myself, wanting to get the best game with the most features out there all on my own (or a small inexperienced team) - like I guess most people trying to get into game development have.

Well, if it does succeed (and I'm still around) I'll take a loot at it.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 is out today, some details for you (plus new driver release)

Still running on RX 470 (I didn't even remember and had to lspci for it  ), usually enough for the kind of games I play. Every time there is some new GPU generation announced, I hope for a reasonably priced model that has some lower power consumption and significantly higher performance so I might consider an upgrade. But with every new generation I have the feeling that only monsters are created or budget cards for office scenarios.

I'm sure efficiency must have increased somewhat, my card is now four years old (says the internet). To be honest I don't have any numbers and don't invest much time on it. Usually I take a look what models lie in my desired power range (< 100 W) and then fire up some of those "GPU X vs. GPU Y" comparisons and am disappointed at the not impressive performance gain.

My guts say it's a different story with CPUs. Still running on a X4 860K. Just compared it to a Ryzen 5 3600 which has less TDP (65 vs. 95 W) and, from some benchmarks I found, has 2 to 5 times the performance.

Am I just missing some products here or is the GPU market really evolving so much differently?
