Quoting: wleoncioit's up to Valve to create a suitable competitor
Valve cannot create a suitable competitor to Windows.
Why the hell should I use SteamOS, which is nothing more than a crippled console OS, when I can use Windows, a full blown operating system??? Which, by the way, allows me to play the entirety of the Steam library at full speed.

We need a polished and complete desktop OS.
Ubuntu was promising 10 years ago, now it's a clusterfuck.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided released for Linux, port report and review

This kind of graphically intensive games push the limits of not only my hardware but of my internet connection as well. At least there's an upgrade path for the former but absolutely nothing I can do for the latter :(

Downloading this game will take my crappy connection a week or so, not considering any subsequent multi GB patch.

Had the same problem with Doom and its 60GB of data. Stopped playing it after its first 12GB patch.

Publishers should consider distributing boxed games like in the '90s, but on read-only SD cards.

(Damn I hate my country so much...)

Looks like VR support for Linux will be shown off at SteamDevDays this week, about time

I was waiting it and now this :-(
There's no need to be rude.

Maybe some middleware does not have a linux version and this is not something Aspyr could do anything about.
Middlewares can be a huge problem for ports and their use is decided by the game developers.

Quoting: NaibWell early reports is that Win10 is losing "market share" could be a statistical anomaly ... would need to wait till next month to really see if there is a hint of a trend
http://betanews.com/2016/10/01/wtf-windows-10-losing-share/ [External Link]

The steam survey sort of lines up with this as well

Windows 10 64 bit 47.48% +0.04%
Windows 10 1.42% -0.09%

thats a net loss of 0.05% tiny and maybe a one off
Windows 10 is such a disaster (forced borked updates, forced spyware, ads, no QA ...) that I find this outcome quite unsurprising. I bet many grabbed the "upgrade" to W10 just because it was free, and then went back to W7 out of desperation. Because of DX12 gamers will have no choices tho...

I remember playing Half Life on my 3dfx Voodoo Graphics. I could say "those were the days" but actually today things are much better: faster, easier and way cheaper.

I also remember the popular uprising against Steam at HL2 launch in 2004. And look at where we are now...

What have you been playing recently and how is it?

Besides doing basic maintenance on Steam for Linux?
Steam VR! ... wait ... no.

This guy is redistributing a decompiled closed and copyrighted program in ASM form under the GPLv3 license. I don't think this is very legal ...
