It is bad design to have exposed pins that carry a current. Even if they are not magnetic. There is always a risk that something conductive falls on top of it and starts a fire.

The Talos Principle 3 revealed to be "coming soon"

I burned out on the first part mainly due to trying to find the hidden stuff, so I still have not finished it. I think I watched some speed runs of the second part and it looked too open for a puzzle game.

Quoting: scainethe 20+ reasons why genAI is a curse
I'm still convinced that the only real description for gen AI is that it is a weapon for the ultra wealthy to be used against the rest of the people.

Quoting: JarmerThe endgame was not really properly thought out, so hopefully they listen to fans and fix that here.
What do you mean? Wiping everything on the map in the first time was not what they wanted? 🤔

If you drop (or throw) your new Steam Controller it will scream at you

Quoting: StellaMandatory disclaimer that damage caused to your controller caused by dropping it isn't covered by warranty...
The joke might be that the scream indicates that the warranty is voided.

That is horrible. I'm still very annoyed of the first wave of destruction as mentioned by M@GOid – that was baffling as well. Why destroy something that works? The generic name on local leaderboards is stupid.

California law to require operating systems to check your age

There is the danger that this will stop the possibility of disabling secure boot. I'm not happy about that.

Quoting: Eocene84Hopefully the state I live in, Colorado, doesn't do something like this.
Too late. There are reports that they are doing the same thing.

Cygames announced an AI studio, and then put up an apology over it

Quoting: scaineI've seen some enthusiasm for GenAI in the general public, but (and maybe I'm in a bubble of my own making now), most people I speak to simply ridicule it, or more often, actively revile it.
There are some people that are quite enthusiastic. In 2024 I met an older man at the end of a guided tour at the zoo and he said that every time he was learning a new tune for whatever instrument that he played he questioned ChatGPT about the specifics of said tune. In hindsight I'd like to know the accuracy of the “information” provided by these queries.

I'm convinced that the real applications of AI that provide a benefit to society are limited to the natural sciences – especially biology – and environmental research where automatic classification is a huge boost in efficiency like trying to determine which Lemurs are scattered in the remaining disconnected forests on Madagascar to prioritize reforestation or to track behavioural changes in animal populations caused by changes in the environment.

I think you've missed what the Daily Show showed with the “circle” animation – the (incredibly dangerous) artificial inflation of the financial system.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the Cygames post reminds me of Sir Humphrey from Yes Minister.
