They should also disable blur and most animations to go with it and make it feel solid, utilitarian :)
Edit: also, I missed the news about the SC being discontinued. I've been using my 2 quite intensively, and they do show some signs of wear. Also they can be buggy at times (only one registered on the xinput interface the other day, also steam Big picture is sometimes buggy with deadzones and activators not configuring properly, glitchy UI).
It's a shame, as I wanted to get more. I guess it also explains the lack of bug fixing and firmware updates?

Quoting: mr-victoryThat's the original steam look, so definitely aiming for the retro aesthetics here.Quoting: Guestugly theme looks like Windows 98 Plus.That's the point, except that instead of an ugly (IMO) gray and blue you get a nice military green and gold for retro vibes!

Tesla to demo Steam for more in-car gaming soon using Linux & Proton

I'm pretty sure you can even restart in offline mode if you want to play simultaneously.

Quoting: denyasisSo, I buy this car for me put steam on. I'm home playing a steam game. My spouse then takes my car to do an errand, it turns on, logs into my steam account ( kicking me at home off). So now I'm trying to call my spouse while they are running errands to go back to the car and close steam?Steam has supported multiple PCs being logged into the same account for some time now, since about the introduction of "remote play" (or "in-home streaming", as it was called years ago).
I can kinda see the criticisms that these innovations are all thought up of people that don't have to think about family life.

Quoting: MalNice. It seems like a second choice alternative compared to buying a Tesla though, which promises to let you play for weeks with a single charge! :grin:inb4 someone gets stranded because they used up their battery charge playing.

Wow, so many fixes... Are those game-specific, or generic ones?

Now if the steering wheel can be used as a controller when stopped, that would make for a neat car sim rig. Just pair it with a VR headset for extra immersion :)

Quoting: eldarionAs a software developer myself, you will have to do A LOT of code buildsHey, that's what build farms are for :)

You should avoid the stock Firefox install on Steam Deck as it's badly outdated (updated)

Quoting: HoolyTo be honest, they should include the Chromium Flatpak instead.Why should they? It may be slightly faster, buxt diversity is good for the open web! It already looks like we're going back to IE days with Chromium's marketshare (thankfully, chromium mostly respects standards, for now).
Denuvo announced Denuvo SecureDLC to protect DLC

* Altered the games to have them load DLCs offline
* Ripped uplay out of them
* Offered server binaries and custom server browsers
* Made everything p2p
* Released the Server-side source code
* Released client-side source code
At least they continue to sell them, they are not lost forever... until they stop working, that is.

Quoting: scaineI like that they support their older games with constant expansions (unlike Ubisoft [External Link]That's appalling. Especially cutting off access to DLC. Instead, upon reaching EOL, I wish they made a combination of the following (easiest to do first):
* Altered the games to have them load DLCs offline
* Ripped uplay out of them
* Offered server binaries and custom server browsers
* Made everything p2p
* Released the Server-side source code
* Released client-side source code

Edit: keep in mind RT is pretty new on the RADV driver, and was done without input from AMD. There are pending ~3x perf improvements, but it's currently ~10x slower than AMD's driver at tracing paths.

Quoting: NerdNoiseRadioI love all of this! But there's one update I'm waiting on that I'll admit to being disappointed not to see here. Now, it's possible that we already have this and I've just missed it, or it's possible that I'm just misunderstanding the situation altogether, but my understanding is that while the Steam Deck hardware itself technically supports ray tracing, due to something with the MESA drivers, RT is not functionally available on SD using SteamOS. Apparently it works in Windows, but I have no interest in going that route.A quick search turned this up: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2022/04/yes-the-steam-deck-will-eventually-get-ray-tracing-once-the-amd-gpu-driver-matures/ This is still more or less up to date, I believe. There's been some activity on AMD's GPUOPEN side recently, but we don't yet know what will emerge.
So, any word on if/when we Linux faithful will see rays on the Deck? And if it's available already with some tweaking, can anyone point me to a resource that walks me through it? While I have absolutely loved my experiences with Linux so far in general, I'm still pretty "noob" and don't really trust myself to try tackling it myself (or necessarily even know where to begin). :-) All I know is that the last time I played Cyberpunk, it still would not let me turn the RT toggle on. :-(
Thanks so much, everyone!!! ❤️

I have planned to do just that, with an extender and a cut to the backplate (I need to order a spare one). Shouldn't have many downsides, provided I take care of EMI shielding.
