The Swapper Atomspheric Puzzler Gets The GOL Cast Treatment

By - | Views: 5,829
In the latest instalment of GOL Cast a member of the community 'Half-Shot' takes a look at The Swapper the atmospheric puzzle platformer.

For those who don't know Half-Shot has been helping behind the scenes with a bit of code for the website itself, here's his first attempt at a GOL Cast for us! Enjoy.

Here's what Half-Shot thought of it:

The Swapper is a game along the same vein as Portal and Antichamber in that you solve puzzles, but with a singular interesting element which branches into a brilliant set of ideas. You are given the ability to clone yourself up to 4 times, and all your clones move in sync with you. Oh, and you can swap your mind between them. The setting is an abandoned facility quite akin to Metroid and you must explore it with your new found abilities.

The Swapper isn't for the gamer who likes his entertainment to be full of action, gore and enough mod-ability to create your home country. But the thing that makes the game really stand out for me is the creativity that went into it. Move over CryEngine we don't need you for good visuals and the story is enough to keep me wanting more. The Swapper has been featured at least a few times in the humble bundle and it's worth picking up if you wish to have puzzles which can infuriate, but the reward is a fulfilment that no bullet can provide. I got it from a Humble Bundle, and it's really worth playing. Good atmospheric puzzler, and just the right difficulty for me. Some tough rooms, some easier ones. The swapping and the story are worth some thoughts about identity. (Google for the space station's name Theseus if you're interested.)

Indeed, It's been a while since I played an indie that made such a good impression.
