Starship Troopers: Terran Command on Steam Deck and Linux — a quick guide

Very happy about the warm welcome to this game, and very surprising considering it's quite an old movie/franchise at this point.

And yeah, let's just say that the game launched with lots of bugs, and not just the "alien" bugs.

An interview with Ken VanDine, Ubuntu desktop lead at Canonical

For what it's worth, I started using Ubuntu some 11 years ago, and stuck to Ubuntu for quite a few years. This year around February I installed Ubuntu 21 again. I would agree with Ken's statement that they haven't let it slide.

On the other hand, we users have started distro-hopping and some of the distros have really brought up some really nice and unique features to the table. And then we started comparing Ubuntu to those. I'd say that Ubuntu just has more competition nowadays.

Quoting: scaineSeparately, I work in Finance, and you'll never, ever, get salaries even mentioned until the second round of interviews, unless the position is (extremely) senior. It doesn't even come up in first-round interviews.
Happy GOL cake day, person on the internet!

A bit off-topic, but I believe salaries should always be mentioned as soon as possible. Lots of time and effort would be saved.

Songs of Conquest looks good on Linux, works quite well on Steam Deck too

Damn Right, sir! Platinum rating in Proton just at launch, and on Early Access!

I must say I'm surprised with latest entries from my wishlist: Dune (in a negative way) and this one (in a positive way).
I predict that the positive reception will continue, and I don't discard that even some players may move over from T.W. Warhammer 3 to the brighter side.

That being said, that Cecilia Stoutheart character is terrible. It makes Ms. Rottenmeier look like a party girl in comparison. Can't wait to play as the enemy faction.

Dune: Spice Wars is out in Early Access, works on Linux and Steam Deck

Not so long time has passed, and Steam charts already tell the tale: despite the novelty and the Dune brand, the fact is Northgard plays in a whole different league than Spice Wars.
Which is, in my opinion, a positive thing: no game needs to fade away, if it's good and people like it.

+1 For Inscryption.
A card game to rule them all... a game to rule them all, really. And it has a native Linux version.

From that wording, GNU/Linux won't have a native release (no surprises there).
It's a bit of a surprise there, or should I say disappointment, since Northgard did have a Linux native version, in which one could play-through the whole campaign, and also multiplayer, in what seems, from my own experience, fully cross-platform multiplayer, with pretty decent amount of players online to play with.

And there are not many other games out there, which check all those points.

Dune is a pretty important franchise, there are predecessors (games) from good old Westwood studios, and there's also Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.
I am worried about how are they going to cover basic issues like performance. If we see already 40 FPS in a situation like that, what will happen in a decent battle with big armies.
Also I don't see a minimap in there, so I assume we are dealing with an attempt to cover all functionality with zoom in/out. Again, maybe too ambitious?
That 40FPS was on the Steam Deck, something they don't actually directly support on Day 1 of Early Access. I can get it to around 60FPS by turning settings down.
OK, but do you understand what I mean, though? Yes, we can get 130 FPS from most strategy games, on a situation like that of the screenshot, but some will scale down to less-than-half FPS, only with a medium size army.

AI War 2: The Neinzul Abyss DLC out, Arcen finished with it

Going out with a bang!
AI War 2 is one of the unsung strategy wonders out there.
Most players get into a game like this and never really play multiplayer. Just play against AI. If anything, they will play co-op with a friend against the AI, but that's about it.
But what if we go ahead and play the game that's designed to be played against AI? That's AI War's forte.

I got to know about AI War 2's existence thanks to this site, by the way. GamingOnLinux is my dealer in the shadow.
