Survival RPG 'NEO Scavenger' Officially Launched
17 Dec 2014 at 8:55 am UTC

This game does suck you in!
Even though I've only gotten like 10% of the way to victory ...
It's also slightly dark. Actually pretty dark sometimes. Will have to stomach up for some more play throughs then!

Also, yes, it's flash but runs alright from Steam.

How Steam Computes Linux Sales
11 Dec 2014 at 3:49 am UTC Likes: 1

Nice @Cheeseness!
From that same reddit parent thread [External Link]:
Quoting: Aspyr_Blair-viaRedditBuy it and play it on your linux client
If you cannot buy it on your linux client YOU MUST play the game on your Linux client AND ONLY your Linux client within 7 days, or the sale will default to PC.
So not sure if it's you must ONLY play on Linux for the 1st week or you must play MORE on Linux than any other platform otherwise, it'll still default to Windows if you bought it on Windows.
Oh wait, same thread:
Quoting: suitablehost-viaRedditJust for clarification, the client the game is purchased from takes precedence UNLESS another platform is played on exclusively? So if I buy from the Linux client and play 90% of the time on Windows during the first week, it still counts as a Linux purchase as long as its been launched from Linux at least once during that period?
Quoting: Aspyr_Blair-viaRedditGreat question! The client is smart and fair, so it will know what platform you have played on most in those 7 days and award the correct publisher the proceeds. In your example case, windows would be the paid platform.
So I guess this GoL article is right. =)

Wadjet Eye Games Reveals Mystery Point-And-Click Adventure, Plus Notes On AdventureX 2014
11 Dec 2014 at 3:24 am UTC

As a mainly FPS gamer, I was really surprised to like their offerings (especially Gemini Rue), since point and click isn't nearly as much control you have with Tribes 6DOF + weps, items and deployables =P

I guess the art, music and definitely story wove together into a cohesive whole. Even though my brain tells me not to get any point and click games, I may get this!

The Developer Of 'Pixel Piracy' Has Announced New Mystery Game
6 Dec 2014 at 12:41 pm UTC

Yeah, I was thinking of trying it, but the Steam reviews make it seem like it never went out of alpha, and that the creators were pretty much ditching it (read not adding substantial new features/content) for their new game.
-sigh- I dislike scumbag game dev companies and them not listening to their fans/player base. It seems like a common trend *coughHiRezwhydidyoumaimandleaveTribesAscendtorotcough*

GOG & Steam Both Hit Milestones For Linux Games

I used to have >50% of Linux games on Steam...
now I only have ~25% =/
It's a good thing =P =D

Also, I've played <25% of the ones I have and completed <10% of the ones I have...

Stream Introduces A Broadcast Service, Watch What Your Friends Are Failing At
4 Dec 2014 at 4:24 am UTC

Who can watch your games?
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6730-TOAK-6497#2 [External Link]
The first time a friend requests to watch your game you'll be presented with the broadcast privacy settings. To make a change at any time, access the Steam Client's Settings panel and select the Broadcast tab to view your privacy settings.

Available settings:

Only friends I invite can watch my games
Friends can request to watch my games (default)
Friends can watch my games
Anyone can watch my games (public broadcast, can be found in the game hub)
Yeah, I used twitch a little bit, but this is certainly much more convenient if it works well. Especially since it streams to browsers so anyone can watch it without the Steam client or game client.

Natural Selection 2 Community Developers Need OpenGL Help
25 Nov 2014 at 1:47 am UTC

I thought by opening it to the community the game became free?!
Although I'm glad paying for it and not having played >10 minutes means I didn't waste money if I want to pick it up again now...
EDIT: I now realise why I dropped it... it kept crashing in the tutorial before I could even do anything! This time around I was about to complete the Marine half of the tutorial after just 2+ crashes! The one's I remember were: 1 as I shot the handgun, I specifically avoided firing the shotgun) and 1 as I pressed "F4" to switch to the alien team.
The first load also took ages and I needed to reload the game sometimes.
Game looks better than I remembered ...

Valve Plans A Big Steam Machine Presence At GDC 2015

^They're already doing a "stream box" - at least in the initial Steam Machine announcements (it was like 3 tiers: stream box, mid, hi-end).

I also really just want a Steam Controller. Most PC gamers here have already built their steam machines and put it in the living room. I've got a HTPC/Stream box which I already use to stream games from my desktop but would like a steam controller to see if it's a better experience.

As for Linux converts - sure, if this takes off, which I hope it will (even though Steam Machines are just standardised built PCs and SteamOS for those particular machines - you'd probably get a lot better HTPC functionality with XBMC), there should be more people exposed to Linux and how cool it is =3
