Feral Interactive are teasing another new Linux & Mac port with a new clue

Quoting: bradgyMars = Roman god of War

your fav rapper and mine MC Hammer has already been mentioned...

I'm beginning to suspect a recent Total War game :)

edit: I suppose there's nothing to suggest 'Total' in the clue... so I'm not ruling out a Dawn of War title
Mars fully shown = total war.

The Talos Principle 2 has been announced

Quoting: MacabreHeartSome of those stars were brutal. I had to resort to the walkthroughs at points just because some of them were just too obscure, like that one with the sphinx
I gave up early on them. There were many that I never have seen in the first place, let alone reached.
I gave them another try in Road to Gehenna, but failed as well. I gave up after I nearly got the one in the valley...
But for some of those that I did get, the puzzles were really clever.

Quoting: lejimsterNot in the same league or same way as Portal.
I agree. Even the normal puzzles of Talos Principle are way more clever than those of Portal, and for the really crazy people, there are the stars...

Vulkan support for Dota 2 to come next week

Quoting: KristianNow as others point out, yes older Windows versions provide a reason. But that reason will dissappear.
Half of the Steam users wanted Windows 10 not even for free...!
Wonder what would make them change now. Even more so if (what I don't believe) MS would start to charge money from Windows 7/8 users for Windows 10.

Quoting: KristianOlder Windows versions is a shrinking market
While it's surely shrinking, it's still half of the Windows users at Steam.
So you could use
* DirectX11 and publish your games for all Windows users,
* DirextX12 to reach half of the Winodws users,
* DirectX11 and DirextX12 and still reach all Windows users, but with more work,
* Vulkan to reach all Windows users (plus the small amount of Linux users with additional work).

I'm not betting on Vulkan, but this doesn't sound like a situation too bad for us.

Maybe Tomb Raider, but I still got much to play. And I resolved to not build a big stack again.

XCom 2 awaits it's first completion, and I wonder how long will Shadowrun: Dragonfall and Divinity: Original Sin will take. Didn't even start them yet...

So many Linux games, so little time!

First Steps with OpenVR and the Vive on Linux

Quoting: WorMzyFor the record, I have tried a couple of VR demos (not including "cardboard" ), and I share the same opinion as Mountain Man. It's an interesting experience, and very immersive, but it isn't something I would pay X hundred pounds for, and I can't see that many games a) supporting it, or b) being particularly enjoyable while using it for more than say 20 minutes.
I found Occulus as well as Playstation VR so incredibly immersive that I cannot imagine that not becoming a big thing. Sure, many types of games won't do well with it, sure, there are teething troubles, sure, it costs loads of money at the moment, but it's just to great not to become true.

Quoting: Mountain ManI'm still of the opinion that this whole VR craze is going to be another short-lived novelty like 3D televisions and motion controls (other than the Nintendo Wii) once people realize that it doesn't meaningfully enhance their gaming experience. Professional applications, yes, but entertainment? I don't see it.
I'm still to hear this opinion by someone who tried a real VR device. Did you?
