I'll be honest, it's about time they addressed this. For a long time I've seen permadeath being the default as something that drags down Caves of Qud rather than elevates it. I can see it in the daily and weekly challenges, but for the default story mode it comes off more as an artifact of its roguelike roots, which has become a drag as the world and story became bigger and richer.
Permadeath works best when you're able to do quick runs with little turnaround time and you can jump right in. But for a game where character creation takes a while, then you have to explore whatever village you're in to find the quests (even more time investment when it's not Joppa), and on top of that have this huge main questline to follow, it becomes intensely frustrating to suddenly come up against a level five chitinous puma in the first goddamn lair you find that you can neither damage nor escape from (at least not without abusing the AI). And yes, I've run into that situation many times, against as many as three of the damn out-of-depth things at once.
So yeah, I totally support not making new players have to dig into an extensive options menu for a pair of toggles they don't even know exist to turn on ssaves/turn off permadeath. It's been a long time coming, even if they're still pushing permadeath as the default, intended experience.

David Rosen of Wolfire Games explains why they're taking on Valve in a lawsuit

Quoting: F.UltraI think that's exactly the idea here. It's not a lawsuit anyone intends to win. The intent is to send a message, and lodge in the public's mind that Steam is doing this shady thing that they may or may not be actually doing. Rudy Giuliani is an apt comparison, since his suits aren't about legally actionable claims, but about undermining trust and giving supporters of his "side" (in this case "crusading storefronts" like Epic) something to latch on to, claiming Steam must be bad, look at all the lawsuits filed against them!Quoting: GuestAgreed that it would be quite serious, but I have one major problem here and that is that this whole affair sounds and looks like a Rudy Giuliani lawsuit where they say one thing out of court and one thing in court. What I mean by that is that on this blog Wolfire claim that they have personal experience with Valve threatening to withdraw their games if they sold it cheaper elsewhere even if no Steam keys where involved but in the actual paper that they filed with the court they only mention that a 3d party got that exact threat from Valve when Steam keys where involved.Quoting: kuhpunktWelcome to the world of manipulative language.Quoting: GuestIf that's not the main point, what is?Quoting: kuhpunktYeah....that doesn't say what you think it says. Someone is asking explicitly about price parity and there is, at the time of writing, no response to that.Quoting: Guesthttps://www.gamingonlinux.com/2021/05/david-rosen-of-wolfire-games-explains-why-theyre-taking-on-valve-in-a-lawsuit/comment_id=202951Quoting: kuhpunktGreat. Show me the quote.Quoting: GuestAnd I have quoted Chet Faliszek (ex-Valve employee), who said that such a clause doesn't exist.Quoting: kuhpunktHave you read the lawsuit?Quoting: GuestAgree or not with Valve's price parity clause (disclaimer: I don't agree with that) but at least look at it on its own merits. If there even is one...
And this topic is about a blog post of someone who is in a position to know if there is this clause or not. He's seen the clauses.
Unless you're calling him a liar. In which case I'd say that David Rosen has far more credibility than you do.
Most of the lawsuit is, in my opinion, full of it. But the price parity for places where there are no steam keys involved, is possibly quite serious, so it pays to be extra explicit about it.
So why not include their own experience of which they would have good evidence of unless this is just smoke and mirrors.

I actually got very into the fan comics (and some official ones) made for this series. There's a surprisingly big cast and developed mythos, even before you get to what the fans lay on it, and frankly the setting is inspired, allowing for an incredible amount of variation. The games are so far beyond me it's funny though, so I'll probably give this a miss other than being impressed by it.

Quoting: slaapliedjeI would say that the lack of recipes for items you get a lot of (troll hide, bone fragments, maybe something to do with tree seeds?) is probably my biggest issue with the game. You end up just throwing away a lot of material, and that doesn't feel good. So having things you can make with all these extra bits that you quickly outgrow the need for would be nice.Quoting: DebianUserI wish it had a climbing mechanic like BOTW.Quoting: slaapliedjeOh! it's seems they have a monster powered PS1, or they just forgot about PS1 graphics ! :grin:Quoting: AkonadySo what really is the graphics about in this game? They wanted to go for the look of a PS1 game, from my understanding.
I've only seen one Draugr that was stuck in stone, but fortunately he was not an archer. When I returned to the area, he'd popped out of the rock, and was easily dispatched. Though we did beat Yagluth last night. Now our plan is to go through all the bosses a second time so we can hang their heads around our keep!

They are inspired by Zelda BOTW and PS1 graphics, the game is somewhere in the middle, with better light effects.
Actually I loved the climbing mechanic in Conan Exiles. It's a shame that game didn't get anywhere near the sales this one did. Conan Exiles was a blast, though if they had a random map generating mode, it'd have gone a long way to make it more fun. I also loved that Conan had a story line to it, but it was one you actually had to play through the game to pick up on it, and a proper ending to it as well.
Valheim, as it stands right now, definitely could use some more recipes for stuff. We have tons and tons of bone fragments, for example, with not much to make with it. There should be bone armor or something!

Quoting: SchattenspiegelI know it's supported, I checked that before I even posted here. But for some unknown reason it's not detecting mine, despite using the fixes suggested on Git.Quoting: Nezchandeathadder v2 is supported since openrazer version 2.8 - works fine with policromatic and v3.0 hereQuoting: scaineNope. Followed all the steps and still nothing. Although I'm still working with 2.5.0 (the current build hasn't made it to the MATE repository yet) so maybe that's got something to do with it. But I have my doubts.Quoting: NezchanOpenRazer doesn't seem to pick up my Deathadder v2 at all, so Polychromatic has nothing to work with. Bit of a disappointment, really. It should work after the plugdev fix I mentioned, Nezchan. I was in the same boat - OpenRGB only saw my motherboard's fan, while Polychromatic failed to load. After plugdev and a reboot, it all sprang to life. Now I can use either/or OpenRGB/Polychromatic with my Deathadder v2.
You're on Ubuntu-Mate, while I'm on Pop_OS 20.04, so hopefully there's enough crossover that this can work for you.
I'm planning to do a complete reinstall once the new OS version comes out in any case though.
I'll probably be doing a clean reinstall next month anyhow, so that will hopefully solve the problem.
