Quoting: Purple Library GuyBegin with the water system, huh? Of course in reality there's weird feedback between vegetation and water systems--deforestation tends to reduce rainfall, for instance. That'd be a pain to model and might increase the game difficulty, though.
If you haven't played the prototype, you start by detoxifying, then using irrigation to allow initial greenery. In the third phase (which doesn't unlock until you're a couple of levels in), you construct steam generators to increase humidity enough to allow a proper water cycle to propagate and everything that's already grown that to be sustainable without your infrastructure. It's still not quite realistic, and I'm sure it'll be expanded a bit for the full release, but even in the prototype it's a bit deeper than it might seem from the trailer.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyWhat kinds of hats? Are there bowlers?
There is a bowler hat that the Queen can wear (that went in last year).

The patch notes contain a full changelog, but the new hats are a white bandanna, a pink sweat band, a top hat with yellow trim, a monocle, a hammer, a green visor, a fruit hat, and a bee hive.

itch.io Creator Day gives 100% of the sales to developers today for 24 hours

Quoting: CheesenessYou can set it to anywhere from 0% to 100% since open revenue sharing [External Link] launched in 2015 (before that it wasn't possible to charge for games AFIK).

The default is 10% and there are presets for 10% and 30% for convenience.
Thanks. I have to look out for that on my next purchase.
Apologies if I gave the wrong impression. This slider is something that developers can configure as part of their account settings, not something that customers have control over when buying a game.

Quoting: RafiLinuxI thought itch.io was always up to the dev on how much they gave back to itch itself. Did that change?
I may misremember, but my impression was that there was a range of 10%-30% to choose from.

No change, they're just not accepting any cut from sales on this day as part of an effort to highlight the value of supporting people who make stuff.

Looks like Narita Boy from Studio Koba will now not be supported on Linux

After contacting Studio Koba via Kickstarter yesterday, I received an apology and a refund for my pledge via Paypal today.

I'm pretty bummed - normally I'm very careful about who I back, and in general, I'm happy to treat my pledges as supporting people in trying something that may not be successful.

Finding out after release that a Linux version was not only not coming to Linux at launch, but not coming at all (not to mention finding that out second hand and having it confirmed by a publisher representative rather than the people I supported 4 years ago) is just unacceptable.

If this had've been communicated via a backer update 8 months ago, I'd have offered to help and been comfortable wearing the loss if it didn't happen.
