Boys (or girls or everything inbetween), don't go on full total war over game preferences!
Fact is, that the "accurate history Total War" community haven't got a proper game since years. Warhammer aside, both 3 Kingdoms and Troy are fantasy adaptions in some way - so i think it would be fair to get a "pure historical" TW.
That being said, i'm not too excited about the announcement since i hoped for a gunpowder era game with a good naval fight component. I don't think that the classic egyptian age is too interesting when it comes to military topics, but we will see. Maybe the lack of unit diversity translates to some fresh ideas in game mechanics (one can still hope).

I know recommendations are highly subjective, but i'd like to be informed on special deals, as in the original meaning of "special".
For example "No Man's Sky", according to isthereanydeal.com it was on deal 168 times within the last 3 months with on average 46% cut. It isn't even the lowest price by the time of the article, as it is on sale at GOG for 27.52 € (29.49 € at HumbleStore). Same goes for the regular 75% sale on litterally every PDX basis game - no need for mentioning them as there are also big titles.
As said, highly subjective.

Quoting: TheRiddickWhat is it at now? $300 or 1000 worth of DLC. I just can't justify the massive price of the complete package, I do have base game and a few dlc however (they were bundled)The same as in every Paradox Game, so nobody can claim that this is a surprise. On the other hand: i bet you can still get much fun out of the base game and some few DLC. Till the next Bundle.
Using a Steam Deck to control a Ukrainian automatic turret, now I've seen it all

All of this don't apply to (western) couch war experts.

Quoting: MatomboThis, a Russian Soldier is still a Human and not an Orc, regardless of how unjust the war is he is fighting in.To add a thought of mine: i think it's totally understandable if an Ukrainian call them orcs, as they not only put their lives on the line defending their homeland, but to witness the attrocities is also stressful. Dehumanize the enemy is only one cope mechanism. They simply can't afford to think too hard on their own actions.

Oh boy, this sounds really good. I'm too greedy to get Paradox DLCs outside of a (usually Humble) Bundle, and the last one didn't even included Leviathan, as far as i remember.
On the Civ-side of life: I didn't like the transition from squares to hex, so Civ V+ wasn't for me. And Civ III made me rage-quit when the first Samurai destroyed my Modern Battletank an i never turned back , so Civ IV is the only itteration i play from time to time, especially Civ IV Colonization and modded Civ.

I don't know if i would go with the arguments in the article.
Yes, 15 bucks (euro) is a lot, but, as also mentioned, Paradox tends to make discounts very quick, so that one can expect to get the DLC with 50% within a 2-year-period. An additional argument can be made if you translate the price into game time. While some don't have any problem to spend 40 EUR/$/£ for a game with 25 h playtime and little replayability, in Paradox games you can easily get replayability for another 50 - 100 hours per DLC/story expansion, and here it is a problem.

What a conveniently cheap way to do it. Oh, publishers have to imlement cross (store) play and oh, what a coincidence, we have a proprietary software just doing this.
If all of the PR babbling reffering to their motivation were true, than they could easily make it free, as in free software and not as in free of royalty, hand it over to a foundation and ensure that their shop is compliant to this neutral instance. As it is right now it's only a white painted attempt to funnel Steam purchases to their own store with the addition that they can change the terms of use as they wish at any time, for developers and costumers alike.

@ launchers: At least their launcher is just what it is and not a broken **** of **** (yes, looking at you, EA).
@ life by you: i don't know how to feel about this, when the publisher famous for DLC-boosting wants to make a copy / alternative to THE DLC-hell game of all times.
@EU4: Little bit underwhelmed by the DLC announcement. Feels a little bit like the expansion or rework nobody asked for, as its focus seems to be an overhaul of already very loved nations, whereas many nations of the middle east or south asia (which players asked for for a very long time now) is still not coming and the rework of other central nations like England and Spain was announced to be part of free updates, as far as i remember.
However, not a big deal as i usually pick up the Paradox DLCs as part of HumbleBundles and so I am accustomed to wait.

The Shop itself is a little bit rough around the edges. I dont like that there is no way for user feedback, some games are listed that are "currently not available", which you only find out after clicking into the site of the game.
