Cemu emulator for Wii U now provides an AppImage
9 Nov 2022 at 11:21 am UTC

Quoting: constRegarding integration with AppImage: For some reason, it works beautiful with my Arch-KDE System. I just double click the appimage and a GUI pops up, asking if I only want to run it once or have it integrated. This is how it should be.
You probably have AppImageLauncher installed? I least I had it on my manjaro and it's one of the first things I installed on steamdeck

Edit: bummer, someone already had that pointed out

Distrobox can open up the Steam Deck to a whole new world

So, is this the right tool to use for my usecase?

- I used arch/manjaro before on my system for work and play

- I'm getting annoyed by having to reinstall apps that get wiped from root on steamdeck whenever there is an update

- I'm in the beta/experimental steamdeck branch

- I'm using my steamdeck for work with clojure, python, go, node (already ran into a problem trying to compile a needed module), so I need quite a lot of additional software for more exotic packages

JSAUX announce their new Steam Deck Dock with an M.2 SSD slot

Quoting: dgw
Quoting: natis1They've made 4 SD docks and still no displayport output...
HB0702 had DP + HDMI, but it was only very briefly listed (as Sold Out) on their site and disappeared completely this week. The old product page is now a 404.

It's actually very annoying that I ordered the "upgraded" dock a month ago, and before it had even been delivered a newer model that I would have preferred was announced and almost immediately delisted. The company has seemingly ignored my and others' questions about HB0702 via email, reddit, and twitter. It's frustrating.
Also be aware, the upgraded docking station (https://www.jsaux.com/products/upgraded-docking-station-for-steam-deck) actually doesn't have a DP (DisplayPort). I got mine and was also mislead by the description on this page which states:

> The main difference between HB0702 and 0603 is that 0702 has one more DP port than 0603

Currently there is no 0702 in their products, only a 0602, so I assumed this was a typo and it meant this version (0603) has an additional DP port.

Now from your post I realised there actually was a 0702 and that's what they meant...

Fun games for Steam Deck that won't break the bank

is my two cents worth.
Might cost a bit more than two cents though.

If you like downhill bike riding through beautiful nature shots. And trying to run the fastest ride down the hill. Lots of tracks to unlock and new bikes and gear.

Sadly only one player..
Maybe if there is only one player, it isn't that good.. :-P

Is it supposed to be similar to lutris/gamehubs/etc? One app to manage all your games with different launchers.

Or should I use steam and link it to each individual bottle? Put isn't it then like proton?
As I understand it, the thing is that there are a lot of versions of Windows, and different games and applications were intended to run with different Windowses. There's some other odd stuff too. So to get something to work in Wine, you often have to tell it some specific stuff about what that something wants from Wine. Stuff that you maybe don't even know. And the options are confusing. And you're gonna have to tell it that stuff every time you run the thing.
As I understand it, the point of Bottles is to have a setup for each application that gives it the specific Wine it needs, and have a UI showing all the things you run in Wine together, so you can just run them without fiddling.
But that's what wine pfx and winetricks are for? So it "just" puts a nice UI around it to bundle those functions together?
I'm not sure what wine pfx is, but yeah, I think there's some analogy with Winetricks, although it's done in a somewhat different way. To be clear, it isn't bundling Winetricks, it's tackling kind of the same problem with a different technical slant.
But isn't Winetricks kind of semi-abandoned these days? I'd heard that, but recently I gave it a try and it has been . . . weird. Like, it installed the game I wanted to run, and it even gave me an icon, but when I click on the icon it just pops up a sort of Windows directory with all the game files, but then if I go into the directory and scroll down to the right file and doubleclick that, the game will run. WTF?!
. . . Wait, no, I think that was PlayonLinux that did that. But I think both of them aren't being updated much.
Wine pfx is short for prefix folder. The one where wine stores all it's information. With winetricks/protontricks you can easily modify it to add needed compatibility components.

It's less user friendly and accessible, but that's basically how it works under the hood for proton also

No need to wait on Valve, the Steam Deck Docking Station from JSAUX is great

Bought. Just ordered an Anker usb-c hub from Amazon for my hopefully soon to be arriving.

But this is cheaper and made for steam deck. Thanks for reviewing

Wine manager app Bottles makes rolling back configs real easy

Quoting: Liam DaweWine is basic with no proper UI to manage anything. Proton only works properly with Steam, as that's how it's designed.

Lutris tries to do everything and the UI is pretty complicated to work with, plus updates have slowed on it quite a lot.

Bottles is a dedicated manager for installing and running apps with Wine. It helps you install and run various Windows launchers, games, apps and more.

They all have different targets.
So bottles is basically "just" wine pfx with winetrickss bundled together in a nice UI?

I answered that in the article, it's how it works directly with Gamescope.
I also don't get it. What's Gamescope then?
