Quoting: TheRiddickThey should add a option to SteamOS for Steam-Deck or handhelds where you can in compatibility section also choose OPTIMAL settings for specific fps, say options for 30/40/50 and 60fps which automatically apply specific optimized config files to the games with optimal presets. That be quite nice. Why only SteamOS or Steam Deck? This seems useful on desktop too.

Quoting: tuubiIt's the same engine.Thank you. For anyone curious as to why, the explainer is on their wiki:
Wine implements its own version of Internet Explorer. The implementation is based on a custom version of Mozilla's Gecko Layout Engine.https://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko [External Link]

Is the Gecko engine the same as the Mozilla Firefox Gecko or do they just share the same name?

Funny how pre-Steam Deck the number of playable games on Linux was never celebrated. Maybe that’s been the missing piece to the stigma. This is just something I noticed on other gaming sites.
People love their Steam Decks and most of the love isn’t even about portability but that the games run fine. No one seems to be able to attribute this back to Linux, WINE, or any community behind ProtonDB that did the work before Valve helped put the pieces together. Valve gets a lot of credit and rightly so but I do feel it is a bit over-attributed. Which is too bad, because mainstream media will do as much as possible to make it seem like they were always cool. ;)

GOG finally remove the false "in progress" note about GOG Galaxy for Linux

If I recall correctly (probably not) Valve made a business decision around the time of Windows 8 to seek other platforms as they were concerned that Microsoft would not allow other stores on it’s platforms for gaming. Valve has had a similar issue with Sony and the Playstation, which resulted in specific Portal ports and special PSN-Steam linking. But keep in mind whatever the history:
Valve chose to spend time developing Linux specific software. Valve also had the capital to do this.
GOG offers some Linux versions of games but has not invested effort in developing Linux specific software. Probably also for capital reasons.
Now throw entitled gamers into the mix.
Now that we have a garden of eden of Linux gaming, thanks to Valve but more importantly thanks to the people behind WINE (which in turn enabled Valve in the first place). What do you think these entitled gamers want?
I buy from GOG because they’re DRM-free. I don’t need another chromium install that validates game files are stored specifically or something to download and manage DRM. I also don’t need achievements. Lutris gets me 90% of the way there. Mumble, discord add another 5% and the last 5% is features missing from Linux versions which is on the developer. I’ll just play a different game.

Quoting: PublicNuisanceI'll never understand the logic of Linux gamers. GOG gets criticized for not having a Linux version of their client by the same people who, a majority of, run out in droves to buy Windows games to play in Wine/Proton. It's ok for them to support those who don't support Linux but not for GOG to not offer a Linux version of their client, even though they sell Linux versions of games. The hypocrisy is mind blowing.I agree the vitriol is misplaced.
But without Galaxy, some games end up missing features for LinuxSome Linux ports on Steam also have this issue such as Feral ports that don't have cross platform multiplayer.

As someone who works in software that message is that they don’t have enough experienced developers to do the debugging and figure out what is probably a few simple changes. Management is also probably grinding the employees as well. No problem! I will just not buy your game. That’s not me being facetious, they literally don’t want anyone to play it on Linux. The Steam Deck wasn’t a big change for Linux compatibility. These companies just chose to ignore it this long until their developers who could figure it out moved on to better things (great resignation).
Hopefully devs and their managers can see how dumb the marketshare argument was that led them here.

Three decent point and clicks for free. I’m not upset but GOG would probably reach more customers if they updated their catalog a bit and gave away more recent games or games from different genres.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyYes I tend to ask things in abstract semi-rhetorical questions (probably because I’m a manager for engineers). I’m try better to strip my brashness from my out loud pondering.Quoting: itscalledrealityAhhh, so you're saying everything counts as hand drawn, where it sounded like you were saying nothing really counts as hand drawn. My bad, but you were a bit unclear.Quoting: Purple Library GuyOkay so either way if they draw on paper or on a tablet, then it’s hand drawn. That was my point not whatever you’re talking about.Quoting: itscalledrealityWhat does hand-drawn even mean anymore, especially when it comes to a digital medium? A wacom tablet and stylus? Not using premade clip art/models? 2D drawn models?Well, in the trailer it describes fairly specifically what they mean by it in this case: Line art is done by hand on paper and then scanned and coloured in the computer, but with a stylus, so still a process involving the hand. And it says the animations are drawn frame by frame, so yes, they are drawing animations on paper. Really, this is very close to as hand drawn as you can get. I think your rant is misplaced in this case.
It’s not like they’re drawing animations on paper, even then they’d be scanning in the result. When is art not hand-drawn?
/rant
The fact that it gets scanned, and so ends up on a computer, doesn't strike me as having much to do with the nature of the drawing process. Not like animations stayed on paper in the old days of early Disney films either--if they did, you wouldn't have been able to see them in a movie theatre, now would you?
Really, this is so hand drawn I find myself thinking "Sheesh, isn't that a massive productivity bottleneck when it comes to creating the content?"
