It feels kind of sad saying this, but remember reading about this game on GOL way back (like maybe a year ago) and being pretty excited. Since then though Linux gaming has changed so much that I don't really care much for this any more compared to the tonnes of stuff that's out there.
I'm sure there's not many people like me though. People seem pretty excited for the game, the Linux thread on Steam has over 500 posts on it (the biggest I've ever seen I think).

Thanks for the kind comments guys! Yup, I never thought I'd like this game either, but I always find myself playing it during my long spells of insomnia, it's probably one of my favourite games and the only game of this genre I've ever really liked. Nice to sit back and listen to some music, think about all the deep philosophical points the game is trying to convey :P.
Really looking forward to American Truck Simulator too. One of my "bucket list" things to do is drive around the southern United States in a pickup truck listening to Johnny Cash, stopping at motels and drinking bad coffee from diners. Can imagine the game would have that sort of "Western" feel to it, driving into new frontiers or whatever.

Quoting: SamsaiAs mentioned, I'm not mad due to Finland not being a part of Scandinavia. Would be cool to see it in a future expansion though! :DYeah, didn't think you would be :P. Just know a few Finns that go crazy if someone says Finland isn't in Scandinavia. To be fair to SCS though, Finland is pretty damn massive and if they'd included it (which probably would have taken a lot of work) then the country would have been pretty isolated in the game since Russia and Estonia aren't in it, so the only way to get in would be through Sweden. Was looking forward to delivering shipments of smoked reindeer from Helsinki though :(
EDIT:
Quoting: leillo1975Congratulations, Excellent Review. This is one of my favorite games (I have 170 hours playing it). I spend a lot of time with Promods/RusMap, and next month with this DLC.Yes, you're right! I was going to mention all the features of the patch and the DLC in the article, but wanted to keep it to the story format and ended up getting a little carried away. The day/night lighting stuff was pretty great, the engine is really coming along. If anyone else is curious about the patch stuff, you can find the full list of changes here [External Link]. There's also another patch in Beta which improves a lot of stuff. I guess they're improving the engine for ATS and implementing the changes for free into ETS, which is pretty awesome of them :).
Maybe you should post that this DLC comes with a 1.17 patch that includes better day-night transitions, better framerate and new textures. This patch is for all ETS2 users, not only for Scandinavia DLC owners.

Quoting: amonobeaxGoL is hands down the best Linux site there is, just sayin'.I second this, my thoughts exactly.
Awesome addition Liam!
I can foresee a future in which Liam and GoL will be worshipped for how innovating the GoL's concept was (Is).
This is the first site that works just like the OS we love, collaboratively.
Keep being awesome GoL, we'll grow with the linux gaming community and hopefully in the future we'll be a godamn monster.

Yeah, this is great! It's pretty hard to find what games are coming out and the "best guess" thing is even more great (probably the best feature), because obviously you won't find that kind of information on Steam or GOG or whatever.
Is the release calendar thingy (widget?) on the right-hand side of the page going to show games released on the day you're looking at it? Because that would also be very cool.

Feral Interactive Looking For QA Testers & Developers

QA testers with previous professional experience testing AAA games. This kind of gets me thinking, because I assume all QA testing jobs require prior experience, since it's probably something quite sought after by potential applicants... But if that's the case, then where do the people get the experience from?
GOL Survey Results: April

I also thought of another really good question yesterday but forgot it now... I think I'll start building the new survey after I publish the results from now on so that doesn't happen. And so I can keep on top of the suggestions and errors people point out :).

Quoting: liamdaweI would also like to see Steam Link added, as that's something that I've been tempted to get.Yeah I'll do a question for that next time I think :). Maybe with the overall "play in your living room question as well. I'll see how I formulate it.

The variations caused by number of respondents is certainly true, it may very well be the case. I just didn't really consider it too much this time because none of the other results really fluctuated by anywhere near that much. But yes, probably best to take it with a grain of salt.

Quoting: liamdaweTraffic wise: People posted it to reddit, so lots of people came in, more than usual.I took the games list from here https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/lots-of-big-games-confirmed-for-steamos-torchlight-ii-now-out-payday-2-mordor-and-more-coming-too.5047 - which was taken from that SteamOS sale. I guess I should have clarified that the list came from Valve and not the developers themselves.
Steam Machines: Stats are very different due to how many more people we have doing the survey.
As for the GDC question, I never actually saw TW3 be officially confirmed anywhere. As far as I know it still hasn't been confirmed by any of the developers.

Nice. I already did 30 hours of the game, but I'll probably just start again when this comes out. Good chance to try out the different decisions too.
I did really enjoy this but ended up putting it down after my patience wore a bit thin. Tends to happen with me and CRPG games these days and was even worse with Pillars of Eternity (which I didn't enjoy as much as this). Guess the instant gratification and shiny graphics of modern games has made it harder to play a 60 hour + game with tonnes of dialogue these days. Wish it wasn't that way though :( I want to give it another chance, this game is awesome.

It's not that it was buggy, it just didn't present the information very well at all (on the release I played). A good tutorial should introduce information incrementally, maybe over a series of levels and let the player gradually ease into the game while still enjoying themselves.
I just felt like the information was all just sort of dumped on my lap, when that happens it's a recipe for being 10 hours into a game and realising you're playing it completely wrong because you missed some really important feature out. In any case, I still think the game is very good but I'll still wait until (hopefully) they sort something better out if they haven't already.
