Steam Deck 2 is absolutely coming, new booklet from Valve confirms

Valve must improve here too. Some years ago, I signed a petition (with many people) to bring steam catalan support, but they don't care. They let people to translate the gui, but they don't want to add it.
And for steamos they should let configure the desktop mode/kde to other languages.
This I couldn't try if it's possible to install manually, but it should be easier.

Quoting: gradyvuckovicGood to see Valve taking this initiative. Never underestimate the value of localisation. About 95% of the world don't speak English as a first language, and 75% don't speak English at all.Yes, it should improve. At least when installed have localization support.
Would be nice to see some more Linux distro websites translated as well. Hard to promote your distro to the majority of the planet if the majority of the planet can't read it.
For a quick sample, the following websites are only available in English as far as I can tell from looking at the homepage of their websites:
- https://linuxmint.com/ [External Link]
- https://manjaro.org/ [External Link]
- https://ubuntu.com/ [External Link]
- https://archlinux.org/ [External Link]
- https://www.centos.org/ [External Link]
- https://endeavouros.com/ [External Link]
- https://getsol.us/home/ [External Link]
- https://www.gentoo.org/ [External Link]
Shoutout to these websites for having numerous translations available on a visible dropdown on their homepage:

- https://www.debian.org/ [External Link]
- https://www.opensuse.org/ [External Link]

Steam Deck production better than expected, Q4 emails already going out

My deck it's already on the way (after waiting a year).
I imagine the production its increasing because it's no longer necessary to produce useless crypto miners.
Nvidia/amd are not producing the new graphics card and want to wait as there are to much on the market and aren't selling as much.
Or simply the production has increased.
I'm waiting to try mine this or next week.

SteamDeck it's a pc, so it shouldn't have anything as guaranteed, not even a keyboard or a monitor.
I hate the "always online" policy on some games. When you have the game on the device and you don't want to play an online match, there is no need to be online.
Steam it's a launcher, so there is no need to be online, or have screen, as you can lauch even some servers that doesn't need it.

Hope I'll find as useful as you. I have bad experience with the n switch, as I have "big hands".
But the deck it's much more versatile.

Quoting: MohandevirThis device is just fabulous. It's been over a month since I got it and my desktop has been collecting dust ever since. I don't feel I'll get tired of it, anytime soon. Completed HZD on SD. Rediscovered Blaze Rush which I resumed and finished. Just started new Tomb Raider, Grid (2019) and Witcher 3 runs... Lots of emulation too (never did that much emulation, even with my Rpi). The form factor is just a perfect match, for me. I'm not tied to my desk anymore (which I started to dislike, after long work hours) and not limited by the availability of my living room. Whenever I want, wherever I want, Whatever I want. On top of that SteamOS is so comfy to use... Wow!Just I recived the email yesterday.
Happy to hear that those that didn't get it yet will get it even faster. Thanks Valve!

yuzu the Nintendo Switch Emulator gets an easy Linux installer

Probably it's because I'm using linux for some years, that I think that using the package manager it's easier than searching on internet for an installer, downloading it, executing it, and follow an assistant.

Quoting: dibzAlternatively I wrote this little bash script to update yuzu (early access) if anyone wants it. Requires jq and curl to be installed.This, and I would prefer using the distro package manager, it's easier.
#!/bin/bash -x
OUTDIR=/home/$USER/apps/appimages
ID=$(curl -s -H "Accept: application/vnd.github.v3+json" https://api.github.com/repos/pineappleEA/pineapple-src/releases/latest | jq '.assets | map(select(.name=="yuzu-x86_64.AppImage"))[].id')
curl -H "Accept: application/octet-stream" -L https://api.github.com/repos/pineappleEA/pineapple-src/releases/assets/$ID -o "$OUTDIR/Yuzu.AppImage"
chmod +x "$OUTDIR/Yuzu.AppImage"

Probably it's one of the last prototypes.

Quoting: kuhpunktAt 11:33 they are also using a slightly different model. The speaker thingy looks different and the menu buttons at the top are different as well.It's the same model that you can see at https://www.steamdeck.com/ [External Link] on the video that is playing starwars.
Probably it's one of the last prototypes.

Steam Deck back to being the global top seller (by revenue) on Steam

I registered after one or two weeks after the initial date and I have Q3+.
I'm start to worry that when I get one its to obsolete. This chip it's zen2, and amd already has zen3+, and before the end of the year will (probably) have zen4+rdna3 in one chip that surely will be more eficient and powerful.
When steam deck was anuncied it had top of the line technology. Now is starting to be some competition.
But at least steamdeck has linux than the others doesn't have, that gives (for me) a big plus on value.
And its not fair comparing the revenue from steamdeck or a game (even AAA), the steamdeck cost 10x more.

I think that on xorg you can pot the desktop (buffer) on any resolution and scale back to the screen resolution.
And also: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Gamescope-AMD-FSR [External Link]
Here says that gamescope supports fidelity fx and integer scaling.
So, I think that up/down samples as needed.

I like the first game, but I won't pay more than 20€ for this one.

Quoting: GuestYes... 59.99€, it's too expensive. For this price it needs a real native version and with a proper box with manual and extras.Quoting: GuestThe troubleshooting bit worries me... it sounds like they didn't try very hard at this port. Hopefully not a bum one that went out the door because of a technicality.Of course they didn't try very hard with this port. It's not even a proper GNU+Linux native version, it's the Windows version running in a wrapper iirc. And they're asking for £55 too!
(Or a secret Microsoft plot after the buyout, insert Dr Evil gif)
This is simply another studio doing the bare minimum possible to appease the minority of us GNU+Linux gamers.
Maybe we ought to rekindle the "no Tux = no bux" campaign and demand fully native games coded with fully native tools on computers actually running GNU+Linux?
I like the first game, but I won't pay more than 20€ for this one.
