Totally unfounded and speculative from my part... And probably wrong too (more a wish than a reality).

Quoting: kuhpunktSure, but a PC gaming laptop powered by ARM... It's directly playing on Microsoft's turf. Or is Microsoft trying to gradually abandon the said turf? Afterall, the new Microsoft did say that they envied Google's position...Quoting: MohandevirWhat is making me wonder it's the fact that Microsoft and Nvidia always walked hand in hand, when it comes to gaming... What is happening?I guess they also just want to be future proof. Nvidia is working with Valve (enabling DLSS on Proton) and Nintendo on the Switch etc.

Quoting: GuestMight not be suspicious that much... Valve might even had talk with Nvidia... It's just that AMD is open source and Valve can contribute to the project directly. Nvidia, on the other hand, by it's proprietary nature, is on it's own. Similar to what happened with the Shield.Quoting: MohandevirIn other news...Yes indeed, and the timing is pretty suspicious to me, considering Valve went totally Amd and x86.

Seems there is a lot of movement on the Linux gaming front...
Let's see what (if anything) will happen!

This is pretty big if it gets official... AMD and Nvidia in the Linux push, all runing on Arch based distros... Interresting times for Linux gaming ahead!
Did Nvidia and Valve collaborate on this one? The timing is pretty weird, considering the Steam Deck reveal.

The Valve Steam Deck, lots of excitement and plenty to think about for Linux gaming

If the Steam Deck becomes a success, could we see some solutions like texture packs specifically for the Steam Deck, at some point? Because these 4k texture packs that are being part of these 100gb game downloads are pretty overkill, for a 7" screen and taking into account the limited storage of the device...
Quite obvious to me that Valve has a strategy to keep the Steam Deck relevant for years. They didn't tell the whole story, imo.
Edit: Everytime I look at a Steam Deck video and see the Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order video, I can't help but wonder how they were able to make it run with a controller... On my PC, only the Keyboard is recognized, the Steam controller buttons, left trackpad and stick are unresponsive. The right trackpad act as a mouse, in the best of cases.

Quoting: LoftyYep, but may be run from a cheap (if it ever exists) Surface. And from that Surface... XCloud.Quoting: MohandevirIt's been a long time since I began to suspect that Microsoft decided to try to transform the PC market into an Xbox + Surface vision, killing the diy on the way.https://www.xda-developers.com/microsoft-announces-windows-365/ [External Link]
for business only though.

Edit:
That means that even if it runs on Steam Deck, Microsoft doesn't recommend it because it's going to be a nightmare to use.
I'll drink to that!

Quoting: CatKillerOoooh... Soooo sad.... :happy:Quoting: LoftyOne of the minimum requirements for Windows 11 is a 9-inch screen.Quoting: CatKillerFWIW, you can't install Windows 11 on it; the screen's too small. What do you mean by this, is there a minimum limitation on resolutions available to Windows 11 ? Or are you talking about physical screen size comfort ?

Quoting: alka.setzerBecause frankly if the point is to play indie games on an handheld or 2015 AAA games just get a switch, you will have a lighter device the same games which were actualy made to work in handheld mode plus exclusives.Have a good read.
