Quoting: legluondunetIf this work could help N64 emulator developers progress. Because today, N64 emulation is less accomplished than other console emulators.Unless I'm wrong, I don't think this will help N64 emulator developers since this one is recompiled to worked natively without using emulators. I'm pretty sure emulators have been adding changes like the ones highlighted in the video to N64 games for some time now.

Quoting: kuhpunktExcuse the language, but Valfaris: Mecha Therion is metal as fuck.I had the first one very early on when I started building my Steam game collection and haven't had a chance to play it since I started going overboard with my backlog. However, I did decide to pick up the sequel to the first one, along with a few more games that I didn't have in my backlog. Should be fun times when I get to it
Highly recommend the first game as well.

Anyways, the project does look cool and it would be interesting how far it'll stay up before it vanishes due to the obvious reasons

Well, Nintendo aren't going to be happy about this one are they. When has Nintendo ever been happy about any of this stuff? This is no different than any other fan project and funny thing is that this developer does a better job at making older N64 titles look great with these enhancements than Nintendo. They would rather lazily put out N64 games as is and continue to rake in the money from those poor souls that pay to play these games with their crappy subscriptions.

Quoting: FutureSutureWell, they have Front Mission 1 and 2 but yes, no JRPGs or anything else from them.Quoting: ToddLNone of their Japanese games as far as I am aware, however.Quoting: FutureSutureReleasing their games on GOG would be a pleasant surprise. They do release some games on GOG but not all, unfortunately.

First time hearing about this distro and they seem to provide a lot of desktop environment options in the installer if you're not into KDE or Gnome. So far, I haven't see them mention about a Gaming Mode like Bazzite and Nobara but will check it out once they're done with their handheld mode setup.

It's cool that this type of technology exist but it just feels like manufacturers will continue to use the model of soldered on RAM because they can charge more for it. It would be cool though if future Steam Deck models used this so that we can upgrade the RAM to whatever capacity it can handle.

I really miss the days when Square and Enix were separate companies doing their own RPGs because they made some of the best games during those periods.

Quoting: FutureSutureReleasing their games on GOG would be a pleasant surprise. They do release some games on GOG but not all, unfortunately. As for what Square Enix has in mind, the CEO did mention about going back to the multiplatform nature of the business and since their aim is quality over quantity, we're probably going to see less games like Front Mission, Live-A-Live and Harvestella and more Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts.

NVIDIA switching to open kernel modules by default in future driver update for Turing+

Quoting: CatKillerThanks for correcting me on this. I keep forgetting all these details.Quoting: ToddL"The more things change, the more they stay the same"Your timeline is entirely wrong. Ati didn't open source their drivers; they had the proprietary fglrx (which was terrible) and they provided some information to some open source developers under NDA - the open source drivers were predominantly reverse-engineered (just like nouveau). AMD didn't switch their focus from fglrx to the open source drivers till a year after they'd bought Ati - after pressure and an implementation from Novell.
This is pretty much how I still picture Nvidia today as I do back in the early 2000's, when they refuse to open source their graphics drivers while ATI Radeon (before AMD acquired them) did. They can contribute to the open kernel module all they want but unless they start providing open source graphic drivers, I'm not interested in what they do.

Quoting: JarmerI wonder why it's running kernel 6.5 ...? Current stable is 6.8 and even the lts release is at 6.6.I suspect that they stay on 6.5 since it works great for their needs and there's no need to move up a version unless there is something that they provide that 6.5 doesn't.
Quoting: ArehandoroThis is very interesting! Soon I'll be able to turn on the TV, sit on the sofa... and not having to curse and get up again because I forgot to turn the Deck onI know what you mean because I have to turn on the Steam Deck with the Dock plugged into it in order to see the Gaming Mode appear before I plug the adapter into the outlet to get it to run from power. It's a fight I have to deal with every time I want to use the Dock but hopefully SteamOS 3.6 fixes this issue like they say in the release notes.
