NVIDIA make it easier to get GeForce NOW on Steam Deck

Quoting: elmapulits good to see that big companies are starting to support linux thanks to the steam deck, but lets be honest, this is the bare minimum, GFN already worked it was just a matter of then making it official, and the fact that it took so long...
If they want to make it official, then they should make a client like they do with Windows and Mac so that we don't have to use a browser. Otherwise, this is no better than what Microsoft does when they tell you how to play Xcloud on the Steam Deck.

It's great that they finally provided an installer, but if you've already gotten it setup in the past, then you should be good to go. Also, I'm glad that they finally added controller support because it's annoying to use a mouse to navigate to a game you want to play.

Bye Sweet Carole blends horror with what looks like classic Disney movies

From watching the video, some of the game play reminds me of Clock Tower and the overall look of it is fantastic. I wishlisted the game to remind myself to buy it in the future.

NVIDIA developer contributing to the open source NVK driver
26 Apr 2024 at 1:13 pm UTC

It's great that Nvidia continues to make some open source contributions but until DLSS becomes a thing on Linux, I'll just continue to support AMD even if their FSR implementation never comes close to matching DLSS.

Garry's Mod forced to remove Nintendo content after takedowns

Quoting: fabertaweI don't get it... are Nintendo selling official Nintendo workshop content for Garry's Mod and the unofficial stuff is biting into their margins?

The only outcome from this is negativity toward Nintendo.
This is Nintendo's MO for the longest time when it comes to anyone using their IPs without their permission, regardless if it's a mod or not. If you don't get permission from them, then you can't use it and they have the right to get it taken down. There are many examples of them pushing their IP policing powers to take down fan made projects, mods, Youtube videos and others. What the modders are doing is pretty much FAFO (F*** Around Find Out).

This is why I've despised them for the longest time and never bother to give them a dime for whatever games they produce, which isn't all that great IMO.

Valve makes paid 'Advanced Access' a clear feature on Steam now
24 Apr 2024 at 2:12 pm UTC Likes: 1

As confusing as the name sounds, I'm not inclined to give my money for early access to any game since they always come out broken anyways

At this rate, you might as well wait awhile for a sale if you have the patience since you'll save a lot of money in the long run and most of the issues from the early release will get fixed. Worse case scenario is the developer abandons it and you're stuck with a broken game that you could refund from Steam or any other third party seller unless you wait too long to go through the process, then you're pretty much SOL.

Atari revives Infogrames and acquires Totally Reliable Delivery Service

It'll be interesting what IPs they'll start releasing in Infogames since I haven't heard that name in a long time

Some of the games that were released from Nightdive Studios are pretty good and hopefully, that'll continue with Infogames.

Ghostwire: Tokyo removed Denuvo Anti-Tamper

Quoting: SolitaryOh, the game that added it a full year after release is removing it again? Oh yea... I am rushing to buy it now :neutral: what bad could come from this kind of company?
Buying? I think I have two free copies over various stores now.
You're correct that this game was given away for free on Amazon and Epic and I remembered picking up a copy on Epic not too long ago.

Fedora Linux 40 is officially out now

Quoting: legluondunetWhat distribution you will advice for gaming?
From my experience, a good Linux distribution for gaming will be a distribution that will provide all packages needed for gaming:
- Proprietary and open source graphic drivers
- recent kernel
- wifi/bluetooth drivers
- wine/wine-staging
- 32 and 64 bits libraries
- Steam
- all emulators
- flatpak
- Lutris, Heroic...
- Gamescope, Mangohud
which manages dependencies efficiently: for example, if I install Lutris, also install wine, the 32 and 64 bit libraries, install the sdl libraries etc... So that the user subsequently does not have any messages error linked to a missing library when launching his games. And packages should be updated regularly.

At the moment I have successfully tested the following distributions for the game:
- Manjaro (ARCH)
- openSUSE Tumbleweed

This two distributions are rolling release so you always use recent and stable packages.

As an Ubuntu user for many years, I would not recommend this Linux distribution for gaming, I have experienced a lot of problems with unsatisfied dependencies, app packages not available, issues unresolved and its management of PPAs is complicated and degrades its stability.
Then I often encountered difficulties when updating from one version to another.

What about Fedora? I would be interested in your feedback.
I was going to suggest trying Bazzite, Nobara or ChimeraOS but not sure if they fit the criteria you posted.
