Quoting: PenglingI can't see Nintendo going the same route as Sony when releasing their games on PC because they seem to be that type of company that loves to stick to traditions, even if their shareholders wants them to expand like they did when they put some games on mobile phones. Also, I can't imagine their team would be able to make their games shine on PC and would do the absolute minimum amount of work to charge the customers $70 like they do on consoles. Overall, they'll continue to do what they do best by giving customer underpowered devices while raking in the money with their first party games despite the fact that their games could look a lot better with powerful hardware.Quoting: Purple Library GuyI don't think anyone doing emulation is claiming that Nintendo or whoever should be forced to do cross-platform development and deliver their software on all platforms.Since they're so attached to releasing vastly-underpowered hardware that isn't price-competitive with other offerings (which was a fair approach in the past because their style of content and refusal to bow to DLC and subscriptions and so on were the differentiator, but not so much these days when Nintendo is like any other company now and you can get plenty of old-Nintendo-like experiences without Nintendo being in the picture at all), and since I'm sure after what happened with Palworld (which outsold in a month what the most recent Pokemon title sold in an entire year) there'll be questions from their shareholders, I'd honestly be interested in seeing a compromise much like Sony makes with their PC releases. That being, exclusive first, then PC later.
I can't even fathom the numbers that Nintendo would sell if, when they introduce their next console, they start selling emulator-wrapped re-releases of stuff from a couple of generations back, giving it a new life for presumably quite little outlay, whilst not eating into their current offerings. They've already sold 1.2 billion units of Switch software [External Link] over the last seven years, and again, given the Palworld thing above, there's clearly an audience outside of their platforms that would very likely be interested.

Quoting: TriasIt was on Steam [External Link] previously. And you can still find keys on some third party resellers, but they cost like 90 euros now. Which is probably too much for a simple convenience...Right but the GOG version has a lot of changes to it to make it run better than the one that was on Steam and I was just wondering if they'll ever put up that version in the future.

Quoting: slaapliedjeI was thinking the same thing since they brought something about not being sure if Switch 2 was going to be backwards compatible and I'd love it if FSF did come after them for it :grin:Quoting: NozoSince Yuzu is under the GPLv3 license, someone should contact the FSF to keep an eye on Nintendo and begin tracking any potential GPL violation perpetuated by the company, Nintendo may want to see how far they can stretch this. How funny would it be if the next Nintendo console actually uses Yuzu for backward compatibility... and then the FSF sues them for not releasing the code changes...

Quoting: Cybolic"There are over 27 thousand abandonware games in world-wide circulation. That is more than half of Steam's current library"You can't really fault them for trying with the math
Great, we're one sentence in and I already don't trust this video

Quoting: ElectricPrismDear Nintendo:Great message but it'll get lost in translation since Nintendo only knows Nintendo speak and anything else goes way over their heads. Remember, they like to go cheap with the hardware and some of their fans think those 10-15 year old 3rd party games that every other system have gotten back then that they're getting now are great on that P.O.S hardware. Which is why when Switch 2 (or whatever stupid name they come up with) is released, they'll still be many generations behind just like their network service
SELL YOUR GAMES ON STEAM. PIRACY IS A SERVICE PROBLEM. STOP CUTTING OFF YOUR NOSE TO SPITE YOURFACEFANS.

I guess it's not too surprising that Nintendo was going to do this and I won't be shocked if someone reported the new repo that Suyu created because their fans just love to act like white knights to their gaming gods. At the end, it's better not to love their first party games if you don't love the things that Nintendo does to gaming like taking down emulators and fanmade games but it's understandably hard for many to do it.
Good thing I've rejected anything they've done for over a decade and counting and I'm glad that there are other games out there that interest me more than whatever they output.

I'll have to check it out because I tried playing Total War: Three Kingdoms on the Steam Deck and it was a horrible experience but maybe it might be better now.

Quoting: Linux_RocksCool, now where's our next-gen console patch motherfuckers? I'd literally pay like $10 USD to upgrade my RDR2 Xbone to Series via a patch.Good luck getting Rockstar to provide any next-gen console patch for any of the their games. They would rather resell you the full game again with updated graphics over patching it and if the GTA Trilogy was any indication, they don't seem to want to put any effort of making something that could be good into something better.

I wonder if they'll ever put this version up on Steam in the future because I'm sure there will be enough people that want to buy this game for those that missed out on it before the delisting.

Quoting: juliandelphikiI'm curious: what is the best option for playing gog games on linux these days? I have quite a large library and would love to continue supporting gog for their DRM free stance, but once I switched from Windows to Fedora last year the fact that they don't offer a linux version of their launcher left a bad taste in my mouth and I just decided to expand my steam library instead. I'm assuming lutris or heroic games launcher are still the best? Can they really compete with the steam stability or is manual tweaking for each game still a common occurrence? Thanks for the info!Since I game a lot on the Steam Deck, what I usually do is take the offline installer and add them as a Non-Steam game in Desktop Mode so that I can install the game into the internal SSD or microSD card. After that, just add the artwork and update the Target and Start In to point to the executable and game folder, respectively. This way, I have them appear as separate games in Gaming Mode. Of course, you can use Heroic Launcher if you like to keep them organized.
