Linux GPU Configuration And Monitoring Tool (LACT) gets advanced profile management
30 Jun 2025 at 2:59 pm UTC

It seems the update has some issues, myself and at least 2 other people on the github were unable to get the daemon running on the Flatpak version (and some other person on the deb). I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling, enabling, removing the daemon… And now LACT is completely borked for me. I don't get prompted anymore to reinstall the daemon, so honestly no clue what to do now. Dev already said in github that they cannot reproduce the problems

Huh, interesting. I wonder if the Thermal Throttling bug has anything to do with mangohud constantly reporting thermal throttling for RDNA3

Fedora proposal to drop 32-bit support has been withdrawn

Thank goodness this was withdrawn. However the reputation damage that was done to Fedora is likely irreparable. This proposal couldn't have come at a worse time, with Windows 10 support ending in a few months. So many people were worried they had to switch to another Linux distro if half of their games and Steam stopped working. In my opinion this proposal to remove parts of the OS crucial for legacy gaming sended the wrong signal to Windows people looking to switch. Legacy compatibility is a defining feature of PC ecosystem, after all

Pricing announced for the Orange Pi Neo gaming handheld with Manjaro Linux

I never understood why manufacturers make 3000000 models for handhelds, to me they are a lot more like a console than a PC. I've been trying to buy a Z1 Extreme - 32GB Lenovo Legion Go S for the longest time, but it's just not available anywhere… all I can find is either 32GB Z2 Go or 16GB Z1 Extreme. In my opinion it goes against the entire handheld idea that the Steam Deck helped to make popular 'every Steam Deck - same performance'. Having different SKUs really only serves to confuse people AKA 'Why's my Legion Go S so much worse than yours?'. For the Legion Go S there's so many different performing models that it would make more sense if they sold the Z1 and Z2 as separate handhelds if you ask me. 32GB Z1, and 16GB Z2, because I don't see how the Z2 would even need 32. They should do what Valve did and give people storage options instead of processor options. Otherwise you're just confusing people and making it harder to actually buy the model that consumers want

So it's basically a Z1 Extreme in disguise right? I understand that it's a nice chip, but c'mon, it's from 2023 and now it's time to move to the next more efficient architecture. It starts to feel like hardware designers just keep putting the same chip into new devices, trying to resell it as something new when the performance is really the same. No innovation whatsoever

10 years after release Dying Light: Retouched is a nice upgrade for the Techland zombie game

Thanks, I got it successfully activated from CDKeys now. Steam, Fanatical, GOG, Epic all wouldn't sell it to me. I hate this internet censorship that my country does

Still unavailable in Germany  You need a proxy to even view the store page, how idiotic is that. I'll probably buy it via CDKeys

Ridiculous Harry Potter-like wizard game Secret Agent Wizard Boy gets a huge upgrade

The gameplay kind of reminds me of the original HP games on PC (the ones from EA) like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets from 2002. It was a fun game but too short and there was not a lot of replayability

Fedora Linux devs discuss dropping 32-bit packages - potentially bad news for Steam gamers

Not everthing works stable on Proton 9+. There's some regressions in newer versions of Proton that prevents apps from functioning, some only work with Proton 7 for example. It seems Valve is not interested in addressing these problems in newer Proton. I reported one regression for Vampyr on the Deck (Steam Deck Verified too!!) which launches in an incorrect resolution every time a Proton newer than 7 is used. Still haven't heard back, but I reported it a month ago.
This would mean games either have severe issues, or not work at all any more after this change
