Quoting: PhlebiacI seem to remember reading that the voice actor from previous games was returning for this one, and Wikipedia says as much:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominic_Armato [External Link]

But in the trailer, he sounds different from what I remember; is it just me?
He's quite a bit older, I suppose he could sound different just because of that.

Valve to ship 'more than double' the number of Steam Decks each week

Quoting: CyborgZetaFor $400, the Steam Deck is a heck of a deal. I bought a 512 GB SSD to replace the SSD for less than $100, so for less than $500 I get a handheld PC
Hmmm . . . say, slightly off topic, but during the run-up to the Deck arriving people were talking about it being sort of secondarily, on top of the gaming, like having a really cheap little laptop. It occurs to me that while it's a bit underwhelming as a laptop, it can totally replace a tablet, like an iPad or something. I mean, it's like a tablet only the gaming is better, it's easier to hold, and it's got controllers. Pretty much anything you can do on a tablet, you can do on the Deck, only it's probably easier and more comfortable.

Definitely need to do that.
But this looks like it could be fun too.

. . . You can be a unicorn on a skateboard. I'm not sure if I want to be a unicorn on a skateboard, but I'm still impressed the option is apparently there.

Yeah, I kind of like the art too. It's not "classic cartoony", which would have been bad. It's not approaching photorealism, which would have been bad. It's not anime-styled, which would have been bad. All perfectly fine styles of art, but not for this particular thing.
And it's pretty dramatic, which is good. A bit abstract is IMO fine for Monkey Island, which is definitely leaning out of realism and into "telling a classic tale".

Quoting: KROMNice to hear. Another timesink, yay. :D
I wonder about the VR version. I have no idea how you would play such a kind of game in VR, but I'm eager to find it out.
Wouldn't you crush buildings as you walked around deciding what to build?

Comedy point and click adventure A Twisted Tale has a demo and Kickstarter live

Quoting: Purple Library GuyReally, this is so hand drawn I find myself thinking "Sheesh, isn't that a massive productivity bottleneck when it comes to creating the content?"
Exactly. It's the style that matters, not necessarily how it was done. I guess indies can do crazy things like this as they don't care about productivity.

Adventure game at least has benefit that majority of what needs to be animated is the characters. And walking and all other common things can be recycled and nobody will complain about that.
Mm, good point. Probably more workable than I thought.

Quoting: itscalledrealityWhat does hand-drawn even mean anymore, especially when it comes to a digital medium? A wacom tablet and stylus? Not using premade clip art/models? 2D drawn models?

It’s not like they’re drawing animations on paper, even then they’d be scanning in the result. When is art not hand-drawn?

/rant
Well, in the trailer it describes fairly specifically what they mean by it in this case: Line art is done by hand on paper and then scanned and coloured in the computer, but with a stylus, so still a process involving the hand. And it says the animations are drawn frame by frame, so yes, they are drawing animations on paper. Really, this is very close to as hand drawn as you can get. I think your rant is misplaced in this case.
The fact that it gets scanned, and so ends up on a computer, doesn't strike me as having much to do with the nature of the drawing process. Not like animations stayed on paper in the old days of early Disney films either--if they did, you wouldn't have been able to see them in a movie theatre, now would you?

Really, this is so hand drawn I find myself thinking "Sheesh, isn't that a massive productivity bottleneck when it comes to creating the content?"
Okay so either way if they draw on paper or on a tablet, then it’s hand drawn. That was my point not whatever you’re talking about.
Ahhh, so you're saying everything counts as hand drawn, where it sounded like you were saying nothing really counts as hand drawn. My bad, but you were a bit unclear.

BeamNG.drive gets experimental Native Linux support

Quoting: Purple Library GuyAs a counterpoint I'd like to note that I first got a game working on Proton two days ago, but in all my time of playing native titles the only ones I've found to not work any more are my old Loki games.
But are you now talking about "real" native binaries, source code fully written to be compiled on Linux, or do you talk about the "ports" (Feral & co)? Because that's a major difference.

I totally believe that "proper" native games runs well as long as the libraries they depend on are available/compatible with your system setup. It should, really.

But I primarily speak about the "ports" we usually find on Steam (I struggle even calling it that) that's based on using libraries that's equivalents of Wine, typically the bigger games.
Not sure. But most of my games are indies, or Paradox. So maybe my stuff just skews to more genuine nativeness.
