Quoting: JarmerI too bounced off the earlier game(s), but they always have such a rabid fanbase.
The REAL gem is Anomaly with packs like GAMMA or similar that enhance it.

Anomaly does have stories and such but its mostly text based unless you find a VA mod for it. Also no cutscenes in Anomaly but EVERYTHING else has been DRAMATICALLY enhanced on the original XRAY engine Stalker games.

But yes the first stalker game and some of the expansions had some real route edges which got enhanced with mods which most people don't discover until long after.

Quoting: Cato-the-youngerGuns look plastic, pew pew. The Controller doesnt look scary at all
Could be consequence of using realistic lighting and PBR rendering. Perhaps we will be able to tweak things once its in our hands. Also if you played the original games, then you can't argue Stalker-2 looks way better and more realistic.

Quoting: Cato-the-youngerSeems like an issue of trying to mainstream the game too much
Stalker-1 series had a lot of stuff stripped out and was WAY simpler then most people remember it too be. Stalker-2 is supposedly a big step up. KEEP IN MIND! ANOMALY IS A FAN PROJECT, NOTHING MORE!

It's kind of crazy that these games (and df) had a bigger game world then ANYTHING that got released from anyone in decades afterward.

NVIDIA Linux Driver Beta 560.31.02 Out Now

Still needs multi-VRR and DLSS FG support. For such a MASSIVE corporation you'd think they be able to do that real fast, yet AMD is outpacing NVIDIA when it comes to Linux driver support. A truly fascinating paradox.

It be nice if Civ7 expanded off the planet to the solar system and then other systems, like space tier tech. That be fun endgame thing.

I know they sort of did that with other games but on smaller shorter scale.

Steam will now show you who is playing on Steam Deck

Just a friendly reminder that the Steam Deck is not sold in New Zealand or Australia EXCEPT through unapproved 3rd party sellers.

How long before war zones get Steam Deck direct purchase access before this little piece of the world.

It's no longer a question of whether Valve has a 'personal' issue with NZ/AU or not.

The worst things get, the more Linux comes in to save the day! Kind of Ironic, the wasteland warlords of the future will all be running Linux!

Games can certainly have a p2p server or user run server exe to keep some of these games going. In fact many community efforts do that, hell even WoW has a user run server exe. (custom server) to keep the original WoW alive.

STAR WARS: Bounty Hunter has launched and Steam Deck Verified
2 Aug 2024 at 5:10 am UTC

Compared to the recent SW games, is this one actually decent?

SW Outlaws would have been nice as a make-your-own bounty hunter sandbox SW game but instead its another forced narrative game which I feel Disney is honestly not understanding the playerbase with. Why make a big open-world game but not sandbox some of it?

Wonder if it works with GOG.

I currently use MO2 with Root Builder which is needed for CP77, works well.
